Seriously, on what grounds do you stand on when claiming Wall-mart should be fined/taxed/whatever more because an amount of their employee's are on welfare, but not apply that same rule to every single business large or small that have even a single employee on welfare? You have made the perfect case against welfare, and I agree, get rid of it.

People simply point out that Wall-Mart will (probably) leave the state if you un-fairly require them to pay more while waiving that tax/fee/whatever on companies you either like or simple don;t make enough political points attacking.

BTW, the reason so many are on welfare and that number keeps growing IS because so many are on welfare. Government artificially holds up the cost of living while suppressing wedges by giving food stamps/welfare/healthcare.

If the masses can not earn enough money to buy something, the history of the entire fucking plant earth and all societies that have ever happened show the prices must come down. Now if Government steps in and gives welfare, then these products exist at a higher/inflated rate that what the masses could afford... while at the same time making the $ earned worth less due to the dependency on welfare.

Not just uniformally amongst peer companies.. How about when the govt forces workers on welfare???

When I worked at Kennedy Space Center in the late 70s, some of the engineers with large families were on FOOD STAMPS. WHY? Because the govt would pump contracts to the LOWER BIDDER. And then your NEW boss comes to your cubicle and tells you that if you want to keep your job under the NEW contractor, you'd have to take a cut in pay.. I HELPED to end that onerous govt practice along with IEEE.
