I saw him on my 18th birthday at the L.A.Forum, that was almost 34 years ago. I've seen various versions of his band since then. . .about 10 more times. I really don't like what he is doing now. It may be smart marketing but playing backup to a bunch of low talent but popular front clowns isn't what I want to here. My favorite version of Santana was from the third album, that was when he added Neal Schon. Their guitar duels are still some of the finest ever recorded imo.
I took your advise and downloaded a few of the bands that you mentioned Clay, they were more interesting than the C-rap that is most popular but I still don't get the talking. . . .rapping. What's the point, why do I want to listen to someone talk over good music about nothing?
I think that Linkin Park is about as close as I will get to listening to rap and that is only because they have a guy that actually sings.
