Brief synopsis of last night's debate

Unfortunately, promises are what get candidates elected. A candidate's real record of achievements and failures in office is always dismal compared to their promises. This is why complete neophytes such as Trump or Carson appeal to the public

Very true.....Trump makes it sound that if elected, he'd just sit on some throne and issue directives....No congress, NO courts, NO opposition.
(I won't even mention Carson because I cannot believe this country could be THAT stupid to even seriously consider this bible-thumping idiot.)

How arrogant. Who does Trump think he is, Barack Obama?

It'll be funny when they win the youth vote again. For the umpteenth consecutive time.
Progressive agenda's always seem to attract the young because they are looking forward while conservative agendas are looking backwards.

Since we are a system of compromises in governing, any statement that smack of the latter, is viewed by me as simple PANDERING.

Yes indeed.

It's not protecting anybody. We believe that all people should be treated equal unlike liberals who believe in dividing the country, and then deciding who gets what.

So you tell me, who is greedier: A man that makes money and wishes to keep what he made, or a man that doesn't make anything and wishes to take the money from the man that made it?
When everyone is taxed about the same- like NOW, dupe- 99% of new wealth goes to the 1%.

Everybody is taxed the same now? What planet are you living on?

Nearly half of you people don't even pay income tax in this country. Where do you get taxed the same from?

If 99% of the new wealth goes to the 1%, that means only 1% of the wealth goes to the 99% of us.

Of course we both know you are lying, but that's typical of your kind.
If you count ALL taxes and fees, EVERYONE (every quintile) pays between 20 and 30% of their income. Read something, Pub dupe.

Yes indeed, it was a great debate. Each candidate explained how they would expand the welfare government dependency state. You must have loved it.

The way you framed the debate is dishonest. We (once) had a government of the people, for the people and by the people. Today we have a government of callous conservatives, of the power elite, for the power elite and (paid for) by the power elite.

That you are too dumb to understand this is pitiful.

We still have a country of the people, by the people and for the people, we just have to get rid of Commie liberals that think "for the people' means giving them things they should be giving themselves.

You're full of shit. Anyone who uses the phrase "Commie liberals" has never had an original thought in their life. You're simply an echo of right wing propaganda, too dumb to have an opinion formed from within.

Really? Would you like the reports of the Commies supporting Obama and the liberal agenda? I have them you know. Just ask.

Your hate and fear permeate all of your posts. Using pejoratives as if they prove anything beyond ignorant biases puts you in the same set with other dumb and inarticulate people; it is tantamount with those who want to label all conservatives Nazi, racist and stupid (of course some seem to fit those categories quite well).

I've yet to read a post from a liberal/progressive Democrat calling for anything but legitimate rights for the working men and women of this country - those who shower after work not before.

No one in my experience posting on this message board, in the White House or in the Democratic Caucus is calling for the nationalization of the oil and coal industry, or the pharmaceutical medical industry; very few want to repeal the 2nd A. and confiscate all guns in our Country.

Most of the demands, such as OWS and gun control are common sense / pragmatic solutions to on going problems, some over a century in the making. Only fringe factions demand radical change, and these exist on both the far right and the far left. Most Americans find both anathema, as do I.

Maybe you should read or watch slower. Pay attention to what your leaders are saying. Let me give you a few examples:

Obama addressed the nation after the Oregon shooting. In his comments, he praised our allies of Great Britain and Australia for their gun control measures. And what are their gun control measures? Disarming the public.

More recently in the Democrat primary debate, the gun issue of course came up. In her comments, Hillary stated we need to hold gun manufacturers liable for the deaths of Americans. In other words, sue them into the next century.

At the very least, that would make firearms unaffordable. At best for the Democrats, they would be able to be sued right out of business. A halt to gun manufacturing in the US without going near the Second Amendment.

Now what rights do working Americans not have today? And by a right, I don't mean a benefit, I mean a human right.

They are considering Clinton...so they are pretty stupid.

Clinton: What difference does it make? I'm inevitable.....
Sanders: FREE!!!! Free!!! FREEEEEE!!!!!!!!
O'Malley: But what about ME!!!??
Webb: Look at these fucking assholes...
Chafee: I shouldn't even be here....

Total bs. All you Foxbots etc can THINK about is fed income taxes DUH> Funny how fed PAYROLL taxes are now as big a total these days, dupe, and who pays them? Then consider all state and local taxes, which hit the nonrich twice as hard and which go up every time the GOP cuts fed income taxes, and FEES which have gotten ridiculous, functional moron, and you'll notice you've been fooled AGAIN.

My figure that ALL quintiles pay 20-30% in all taxes and fees is correct, and now means 95% of new wealth goes to the 1%. THINK.

Carson is defending Trump now and panders to him in the debates. I think it will be a Trump/Carson ticket if Republicans are stupid enough to nominate two people people to run the country who are are going to have to take a high school civics class to determine how government functions.

We aren't satisfied with the professions so let's try out some non-professionals. The problem with this line of thinking is once the non-professional takes office he becomes a professional. He will make decisions based how they will sit with the people in next election. How can anyone believe Trump wouldn't do exactly that? Re-election will become of paramount importance just as is for all politicians.

I don't think anyone really knows with any certainly what would happen if we had a president with no experience in government or public office because we've never had one. We've had about half dozen generals that became president but that's about as close we got to putting a novice in the Whitehouse. I suspect the worst problem would be the relationship between congress and the president.

Well see, you are absolutely wrong about Trump. He doesn't even care if he wins this election yet alone be enslaved for the next one.

If we don't want Trump as President, fine with him, he has plenty of things to do. He's certainly not going to pout. As for reelection, it will be the same thing.

Unlike professional politicians, Trump already has the money and power which is the prime draw for people that want to be President or even in government to begin with. Because of that, Trump says what's on his mind and he could care less whether we like his comments or not. That's whats so refreshing about the guy.

In the meantime, the other contenders (on both sides) have to watch every word they say. They are so scripted that we never learn what they are really about. Even if they don't say something offensive, the media will turn it that way such as they have with Carson when he stated he would try to lead a classroom to attack a gunman if their lives were in danger.

When it comes to the related issues of our national sovereignty and immigration policy, the theme of the Democrat Parody could be summed up in the the tune: "We are the World."

Democratics object to "national borders"

when they are our borders.
