Bill Still's Money Masters

[
The only people I see touting Prius's are liberals, so you must be one, right?

I don't know about touting it, just saying that the cars are very very efficient and so stretch our 200 year fossil fuel supply plus give us the option to run our cars on wind, solar, domestic natural gas and oil or whatever centralized power source comes along.

Keeping 1 billion cars or so on the world's roads does not seem to be a problem despite what Malthus predicted 200 years ago and what liberals predicted during the 1970's energy crisis.

Why do we call it Fossil fuels? Many believe oil is created in the earths core and not from dead organic plants and animals.

Thus, we will never "run out" of oil.

given all the oil gas coal we're finding now you have to wonder!! Could there have been enough plant and animal life to produce all that oil gas and coal ?? Some calculation must be possible that correlates volume of oil with volume of fossil source? It seems to me you'd need 10000 planets like earth to get all that oil gas and fuel!!

Many believe there's an invisible man in the sky who runs things too. Believing doesn't make it true.

And even if the whole planet were made of oil with a thin crust of dirt on top, if we kept growing our extraction of it year after year, it would still have to peak and then run out.

You do have problems of understanding scale, don't you.

If the rosey estimates of the total amount of oil underground are right (which includes 'all the oil gas coal we're finding now', which leads me to believe you have no idea that most of what we're "finding now" has been well-known for decades as a potential source of oil but has been too expensive to extract while we used up the easy to get stuff, Brazil's Tupi and the Bakken find are prime examples) at about 8 trillion barrels (we've only extracted 1 trillion so far), then with the volume of a barrel of oil at about 160 liters, 8,000,000,000,000 of them would be about 1,280,000,000,000,000 (1 quadrillion, 280 trillion).

So what's the volume of the Earth in liters, for comparison? You said you'd need "10000 planets like earth" to get that much oil and gas. How wrong were you?
Volume of the Earth in liters: 1.1 x 10^24
Um, what's that little ^ sign and what does that mean? If you forgot grade school math, it means 1.1 times 10 followed by 24 zeros. Or for you visual people, this much:
1,100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
compared to.......1,280,000,000,000,000
or 1 trillion times LESS.
Not 10,000 times more.

Eddie, you really have problems, not the least of which is terrible math skills.

Which is probably why you're so easily brainwashed into thinking growth can continue forever in a finite environment like the Earth. When you can't even do the simple math to avoid making yourself look like a fool (not a hard job for you), how can anybody even expect you to understand the monetary system.

Which, in cased you missed it, is now strangling Cyprus, which is actually considering 'taxing'(stealing) from people's banks deposits. The deal reached tonight only will steal from those with accounts over 100,000 euros. There's your wonderful banking system in action. Save the banks, fuck the people. And the banks are still closed in Cyprus too.

Oh I believe we still have enough hydrocarbons to drive ourselves over a cliff.

And I suspect that's exactly where we're headed, too.

Happy motoring!

no idea why you call it "your" banking system?? I'm for capitalism. In this case though it does make sense that crooked folks who stupidly put their money in irresponsible banks ought to take a hair cut along with management and owners.

Did you see GPS yesterday. They had guy who wrote a book saying that in Asia in the next 10 years 2 billion people will move into the middle class, presumably consuming the worlds dwindling resources to do so, but at mysteriously lower and lower prices. Maybe capitalism does not work anymore??

How can scare resources get cheaper and cheaper so all 7 billion of us can afford to buy them!!????

Got it? If resources are dwindling you hold on to them until tomorrow when you can sell them for more!! Sorry

the pure beauty of capitalism is that as supply diminishes the price goes up and so does the incentive to change behavior and to find substitutes. We don't need the libturds at all to help us through this.
Unless we wanted to thank them for starving millions by putting corn in our cars!

Where oil comes from....
Sustainable oil?

I'll get my geology from sources other than World Net Daily and Jerome Corsi, thanks.
Like Oil and Gas Geology

But if you mean the climate change cliff, I do agree.

no worries about climate anymore they now say its been cooling for 10-20 years and world hurricane accumulated force is at the 50 year low!

It was just a back door approach to imposing socialism. They were doing well for a while there to.

Nice prejudging. All the depositors of $100,000 or more are crooks? And those Cyprus banks in question were quite stable all through the 'banking crisis'.

So much for the bank being a safe place to keep your money. But the precedent is set now. So far it's just the not-quite rich getting hit, but just like the income tax, which was promised to be only on the top 1% back there in 1913, they will come after your direct deposit eventually. Anything to protect the banks, fuck the people.

No idea what 'GPS' is. So some guy wrote a book saying that Asia's middle class will grow and prices will come down. Anybody can write a book that says anything.

I'll bet you can buy that book in the bargain bin for $3 within two years.

How can scare resources get cheaper and cheaper so all 7 billion of us can afford to buy them!!????
You should ask that guy that question, not me. Personally, I would say they can't. Recent history says they can't. Many people made lots of FRNs in the last decade or so buying oil, gold, silver and copper, among other commodities.
Got it? If resources are dwindling you hold on to them until tomorrow when you can sell them for more!! Sorry
Got what? That some idiot wrote a book?
Here's another idiot making a prediction:
Thursday, October 27, 2005

Ben S. Bernanke does not think the national housing boom is a bubble that is about to burst, he indicated to Congress last week, just a few days before President Bush nominated him to become the next chairman of the Federal Reserve.
Bernanke: There's No Housing Bubble to Go Bust

I don't listen to these assholes. I look at the facts, and use my brain to draw conclusions.

You should try it sometime.

the banks invested in Greece and now they have pay for their mistakes and so do the depositors

So much for the bank being a safe place to keep your money. But the precedent is set now.

through history people have always lost money in banks when the banks misinvested the money!! Libturds encourage this by telling everyone the money is safe and insured so they stop caring and put their money any old place. Liberal government is always a disaster.

Now you know your ABC'c too.

I'll bet you can buy that book in the bargain bin for $3 within two years.

his conclusion was that if China continues to grow at 7-10% a year as it has for the last 30 years 2 billion people in the next 10 years will enter the middle class world of high consumption of diminishing resources! You're problem is to explain how more people can consume more resources by far than ever before if we are running out of resources???? If resources are scare the prices go up not down!!

See why a liberal is considered slow??

I look at the facts, and use my brain to draw conclusions.

too stupid!!!! you're conclusion is that resources are diminishing when they are getting cheaper and more affordable to billions of new consumers!!

See why a liberal is considered slow??

Holy shit, what an asshole. Some idiot tells you resources are getting cheaper and you believe him? Don't you drive? Didn't you see the record gasoline prices for February?

Have you been to the supermarket lately?

You think this guy is predicting correctly? Was Bernanke predicting correctly in '05?

Oh, and I notice how you ignored my arithmetic lesson above. Do you still think there's 10,000 earths worth of oil found recently?

What a buffoon.

dear, not some idiot!! Everyone can see the numbers in China! 7-10%growth, as they have had for the last 30 years, means 2 billion resource consuming people will enter the middle class in the next 7-10years! How would it be possible if we were running out of resources instead of discovering more all the time?

2 billion people is 4 times more than the entire population of the earth when Malthus first started proclaiming we would run out of resources in the 18th century! The exact opposite happened and is accelerating now beyond our wildest dreams and yet there are still a few Malthusian idiots like you around. You're really a whacko waste of time.

See why we are 1000% positive a liberal will be slow??

It's not possible, you math- and simple fact-illiterate person. There isn't 2 billion people in China now, [Google Public Data Explorer 1,344,130,000 - 2011 Source: World Bank] so how can there be 2 billion 'middle class' in 10 years? China's population growth rate is now 0.5%[ 0.5% annual change - 2011 Source: World Bank], or doubling in 140 years. No way they even have 2 billion people in 2023.

He's an idiot and you're an idiot for believing him and not checking his "facts", and because you just listen to 'pundits' instead of doing your own research.

Slow? What I'd call 'slow' is some idiot who listens to assholes on TV proclaiming mathematically impossible predictions.

I note that you never even tried to defend your idiotic "It seems to me you'd need 10000 planets like earth to get all that oil gas and fuel!!" comment in light of my proving with math that all the oil that even the most 'liberal' geologists conjecture is on Earth is 1/1 trillionth of the volume of the planet.

At least you're not that stupid. I'll accept your defeat on that point, whether you offer it or not. That's how you play, spout idiocies and ignore when they're destroyed by facts.
I'm looking forward to you ignoring the basic arithmetic involved in proving your book writing pundit wrong.

Slow? What I'd call 'slow' is some idiot who listens to assholes on TV proclaiming mathematically impossible predictions.

The genius on GPS said 2 billion resource consuming people would be entering the Middle Class in Asia in the next 7-10 years.

2 billion is 4 times the earths total population when Malthus claimed we were running out of resources in the 18th Century!!

To claim now that we are running out when resources are expanding far far faster than ever in human history is pure 100% stupidity!!

Malthus wasn't predicting anything for any time. He was more an historian, extrapolating the past into the future. His own words(which you probably never read):
Must it not then be acknowledged by an attentive examiner of the histories of mankind, that in every age and in every State in which man has existed, or does now exist

That the increase of population is necessarily limited by the means of subsistence,

That population does invariably increase when the means of subsistence increase, and,
That the superior power of population is repressed, and the actual population kept equal to the means of subsistence, by misery and vice.[9]
(footnotes are here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Robert_Malthus)

If you haven't noticed, the population has increased as the means of subsistence has increased over these last two centuries. But what you can't seem to grasp is that that increase in the means of subsistence has been only temporary. It came from fossil fuels. Oil to power the tractors, deliver the food, and make pesticides, and natural gas for fertilizer and pesticides. Most of the science behind the 'Green Revolution' was in ways to convert fossil fuel energy into food energy.

And I'd like you to show some kind of source for that "resources are expanding far far faster than ever in human history" crap. I happen to know that world oil supply up until around 1970 grew at an annual rate of about 7%, but today they're lucky to get 2%. Never mind gold extraction seems to have peaked around 2000. I'll bet you can't.
