Very true. The only one of those places I have been to is Quincy, Illinois. I am not a fan. Not much to do there. They are only a few factories closing down to being in serious employment trouble (luckly I think the factories there are food companies, which are safe). Very far from Chicago. No night life. I doubt the hospitals are great. I doubt the schools are top notch.

In IL I would prefer a North of Chicago Burb as the best. But that is just me!

All those towns or cities have one thing in common; very low African American demographics.

I see little Warsaw, Indiana listed, which beyond having good farmland has very little else going for it; say compared to my own town of Bloomington, Indiana, seat of Indiana University, a cosmopolitan town with every type of entertainment imaginable available, and a city proper that is more alive at 1-AM than at high noon, and it's plenty alive at noon.

I was just listening to some U-Tube music, and thinking about some of the concerts I've attended over the years by taking a short drive into the city: among them Carlos Montoya - (Flamenco Guitarist), Neil Young (2-times), Ray Charles, Quarter Flash (rock band), John Denver, John Mellencamp (local resident), Dolly Parton, Mac Davis, Barbara Mandrell and of course live bands playing nightly at local pubs and at what used to be called the "levee."
