Bernie Sanders introduces 'Stop BEZOS' bill

I have a few questions, if this were put into place what would the government do with the savins by tax corporations? Reduce the debt? Spend it on another social program? Also, how much will corporations raise their prices to cover the added cost? What will corporations do to limit the impact of this bill to their bottom line? Would this apply to full time employees only?

Just wanting to see what the ramifications could be by the passage.
Good questions. One thing I would like to note. Corporations got a huge tax break, have prices gone down? I haven't seen it, they are just pocketing it. Would this tax really increase prices? Makes you wonder since a tax cut sure didn't lower prices.

I am more concerned about the government spending and trying to be the morality agent then I’m of private business. I have never trusted government and their control and their motives. What if government decide that smaller companies need to follow this same policy? Once government gets a foot in the door all bets are off as the are just as greedy as the private sector. Money equals power for them.
Your concerns are warranted. Like I said in a previous post, the problem may have started with too much welfare and corporations then took advantage of it.
Corporations pay people the going rate, just as they always have. They never did anything to "take advantage" of welfare programs.
So then how have we gotten into this spot where our middle class has disappeared and the rich have gotten richer? CEO pay has gone up like a rocket ship while worker pay has stagnated?

Because Congress is under corporate ownership

This is a fascinating idea. Our biggest economic problem is stagnant wages. Could this be an answer?

Update: September 6, 2018: U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders on Wednesday introduced a bill that would tax corporations with more than 500 employees for the full amount employees receive in government assistance. The bill's title, "Stop Bad Employers by Zeroing Out Subsidies Act," or "Stop BEZOS," is an open jab at Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. Sanders had previously criticized Amazon after a study found that some fulfillment center employees relied on a federal food assistance program. Sanders' criticism drew a heated response from Amazon, which prompted another detailed critique from Sanders' office, one that included testimonials from Amazon employeesabout working conditions.

I love how all the Trump sheep are all pissed off about this but are cool with Trump trying to control where companies have their merchandise made.

Bunch of fucking hypocrites.

How so ? Trump is for blue collar union jobs with his tariffs , why are you all of a sudden against that?

.

I have always been against the tariffs and anti-union, nothing has changed.

Hell in 1986 I led the successful fight to keep a union out of the company I was a welder for. Was against unions then, still against them now.
I was anti union, but now I think they just need reforms. The middle class has disappeared with unions, I don’t think it is a coincidence.

The snowflakes just want to use this as an excuse to impose new taxes on corporations or increase the minimum wage. It has nothing to do with any concern about the workers.

Exactly. This is a way to impose a GRADUATED minimum wage so that companies can be forced to means test wages. It's going to cost a company a whole lot more to hire a Mexican woman with 19 children, so she'll be on welfare anyway.

It's not. Companies left the state or country just to get away from them. I can't tell you how many customers we lost because of the unions.

The guy has had a pretty good job for a long time and is working deep into his 70s. His homes aren't really that great when you take all that into account.

Hey comrade, doesn't trump claim to be for the worker?

Comrade Bernie has never had a job in his life. He rioted for Communism until he was elected to the public trough. He has gorged himself with corruption ever since, becoming extremely wealthy. Hardly "service" Sanders is a typical democrat oligarch. Enriching himself off of the people he claims to serve.

Well I have no love for any politicians so he might just be slightly better than the average politician I don't like. Regardless this is a fascinating idea as I agree with Tucker that big corporations are hosing the workers and the taxpayers. If we want smaller government huge corporations have to pay enough that workers aren't on welfare. Until then government dependence will keep growing.

Fascinating that you think you know so much. I'm a free market capitalist actually.

Oh yeah, free market capitalist always promote the government setting wages and wages being paid according to need.

That's why I don't like socialist deals like Foxconn that you repubs support.

Foxconn? Isn't that the Chinese side of the democrats beloved Apple Computer, the most "woke" and leftist corporation in the world? Isn't Apple pumping MILLIONS into the Texas Senate race to defeat Ted Cruz with radical Communist Beto O'Rourke?

Calling them "republican" is quite the bold lie.

You want more government involvement. Have you notice how much spending increases under your republicans? Yeah, bigger government. I'm an independent, you stupidly partisan fools wouldn't understand.

You're an independent about as much as you are a market capitalist.

Biggest increase in the nation debt in history occurred under your god-emperor Barrack Obama

You really are not very bright.

Foxconn is all republican, that's why trump was there.

I'm not even a democrat so what do I care about Obama?

As a free market capitalist I expect wages to increase dramatically when unemployment is as low as it is. Wages are stagnant. Something is broken. I wish to find out what it is. And as someone who is for small government I would rather workers get enough pay from their employers, rather than be collecting welfare which goes through the government.

Bunch of fucking hypocrites.

No doubt a "libertarian" (who had never heard of Murray Rothbard) like you finds "to each according to his need" a really swell idea...

You're such a fucking clown.

What is fascinating is that you purport to be educated, yet a simplistic rehash of "to each according to his need" resonates as some brilliant new concept to you.

Unions are the natural counter balance to corporations. Corporations are the collectivizing of raising capital. Unions are the collectivizing of providing craftsmanship.

A corporation that colludes with other corporations to fix prices and impede competition is a detriment to the market, it is a trust.

A union that colludes with other unions to force concessions and fix wages is a detriment to the markets.

Unions in America are a monopoly - particularly the public employee unions, which are illegitimate by nature (since there is no share holder to offset).

Unions simply cannot be monopolies, no AFL-CIO, no Teamsters, none of these monopolies. The workers of Walmart consolidating their is perfectly legitimate. The Teamsters refusing to deliver product to provide bite to the Walmart workers is racketeering and is a criminal act.

You simply have no idea what the market is or how capitalism works.

As is the case with most of you leftist morons, you argue from a position of abject ignorance.

BTW moron, wages have risen under Trump more than in 19 years. The Middle Class is rising for the first time in a long time. The long democrat war to crush the Bourgeoisie is turning, hence the heightened efforts by your ChiCom masters to stop Trump by any means.

Great retort moron. You shine as you always do, all 3 watts of brilliance.

Oh and I am a liberal, I proudly support liberty as did Jefferson, Paine, Mason, et al.

You stand with Marx, Mao, and Pol Pot.

In Wisconsin visit, Trump praises Foxconn factory and again warns Harley-Davidson

Wages now equal inflation. You pretend to be smart. When wage increases equal inflation is that really a raise?
