It is the House of Representatives, the one that is apportioned according to population, that is controlled by the Republicans.

I don't think it was an error. The Republicans had a better strategy at the local level than did the Democrats. Local elections do not get large turnouts so a small % of voters can have a big effect. Once the Republicans took control of a States governments they, following the Democrats previous examples, gerrymandered the district in their favor. Thus it will take a huge effort to overturn the safe districts and turn the House. I doubt the Democrats are up to it in 2014 or 2016.

The fact is the greatest liberal of the Wilson era was Robert LaFollette, who opposed WWI, and much of the other crap the author of this thread is trying to pass off as liberalism.

LaFollette was in the minority. Virtually all the liberals/progressives were hooting for the U.S. to get into the war.
