A new study has shown that bee venom can kill the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

Researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have demonstrated that a toxin called melittin found in bee venom can destroy HIV by poking holes in the envelope surrounding the virus, according to a news release sent out by Washington University.

This revelation can lead to the development of a vaginal gel to prevent the spread of HIV and, it seems, an intravenous treatment to help those already infected. “Our hope is that in places where HIV is running rampant, people could use this gel as a preventive measure to stop the initial infection,” said Hood.

An old timer once told me that he slipped off a tractor and hurt his shoulder when he was a young adult and it pained him all his life. He was in his 60's when he ran into a bee hive accidentally and they stung him in the same shoulder and after the shock wore off his shoulder never hurt him again.

Bee venom is used for many different ailments...those who suffer from arthritis (rheumatoid) benefit from the stings of bees......and MS patients? Unbelievable results for those who suffer from it...

Commercial beehives pollinate over a third of [North}America’s crops and that web of nourishment encompasses everything from fruits like peaches, apples, cherries, strawberries and more, to nuts like California almonds, 90 percent of which are helped along by the honeybees. Without this pollination, you could kiss those crops goodbye...

Honey bees are being killed by a mite infestation that closes up their throats. Bee keepers have to medicate their hives against the mites but wild bees have almost been eradicated.
