BBC bans Jewish staff members from marching against anti-Semitism

It seems this is one another OP from a partisan dupe that contains false narratives. If the company didn't allow its staff to take part in pro-Palestine demonstrations, then it is quite naturally to do that with pro-Israel rallies. Whether an employer has a right in demanding such things from their employees is another theme for discussion.

The Jews around the world should grow up already and stop whining about antisemitism when something doesn't suit them. They are the same as other people around the world. Not better, not worse.

Britain. Where the foxes scamper unmolested and the government packs your lunch for you.

Lot of good reasons we kicked the Brits out.

In the mean time, I’d bet dollars to donuts BBC staffers participated in pro Hamas Palestine parades.

BBC staff have accused the corporation of double standards after they were told not to attend a march against anti-Semitism this weekend.

They have told bosses that “racism is racism”, and that if the BBC believes racism is not acceptable in any form it should allow staff to show their opposition.
They point out that BBC staff are allowed to take part in marches supporting other causes, such as Pride, which are not seen as controversial by the broadcaster.

Freedom of speech is such an antiquated notion.

Or, is it?

Freedom of speech is a quite good concept for 'ideal' times. Were the McCarthyism or crackdowns on Vietnam anti-war protests one of the features of free speech rights? Or internment of the Japanese Americans as an example of equality and civil liberties?

The BBC wants to their staff to be impartial, it is apart of their contract of employment...

So the said no marching in this or Pro Palestinian marches...

BBC is being very sensible, they have reporters embedded with both sides... Even the perception of impartiality is vital for their safety.

Why do you want more BBC reporters killed?

What about staff that attend the pro-Hamas protests?
There is no pro-Hamas protest in in Europe...

Stop your fucking shit talk...

There are plenty of pro-Palestinian marches which dumb fucks who know nothing about the region think are the same.. Reason they are dumb fucks about the region, Netanyahu isn't the Israeli people either...

BTW, BBC staff were similarly banned from attending Pro-Palestinian marches too...

I certainly don't see an anti-Semitism march as being any sort of controversy. Based on what the article states, I'm not sure why they sought permission to attend? If there was any doubt at all I would have addressed it in the typical American fashion, treating it as one of those It's Easier to Ask Forgiveness than it is To Get Permission types of things. Pity it seems like the BBC has folks walking on eggshells around there.

Staff working in current affairs and factual journalism who have sought permission to go to the Campaign Against Anti-Semitism march in London have been referred to impartiality rules.

According to the rules, editorial staff “should not participate in public demonstrations or gatherings about controversial issues”.
Seriously, you think an anti-semitism march in London in this climate is about discrimination to jews worldwide?

This isn't America where everyone can pull the 1st Amendment out of their pocket no matter how fucking stupid it looks...

This organisation has reporters embedded in both camps, this would put them at real risk... Why the fuck do you want reporters to be killed...

The Arabs should grow up
( And let a Major Studio spend 650 Million + $ on a Monster budget “ Mohammad & Khadijah “ Biopic That covers the Young Man from his humble beginnings til his barbarous rampage after the Khadijah death and the Hallucinations in that damn Cave and if an Israeli Actor can better play the lead so be it .)

"BBC staff, including Jewish staff, have been told that they are not allowed to march against antisemitism in the demonstration planned in London for this upcoming Sunday"

"The BBC staff seeking permission to attend were denied permission under the contracted guidelines that prohibit employees from attending demonstrations deemed “controversial,” the Times stated. The same response was said to have been given to staff seeking permission to attend pro-Palestinian rallies"

"Despite the BBC deeming the march against antisemitism “controversial,” the BBC’s own policy allows staff to demonstrate in “opposition to racism [which]is a fundamental democratic principle,” according to the Jewish Chronicle. This has led many to example the BBC’s refusal to staff as a double standard"

BBC isn't stupid... You can dress this up all you like but this is a pro-Israel march during a war... Seriously, the US 1st Amendment doesn't apply here and people can use their brains to know what this is...

This rule is in place for the BBC to make it safer for their reporters...

so because you insist that the rally against anti-semitism is something else, you can justify it as "controversial." I guess you can say that to anything you want. I guess they have to wait until after the Israel-Hamas hostilities subside and then they can be against anti-Semitism because then it won't be controversial.

Yeah, they too. The best thing would be to leave them alone in their shitholes and curb their influence elsewhere.

Seriously... This wouldn't have been a blimp in the Northern Riots... Those boys knew how to proper riot...

This was more of a case of a big crowd of wankers saw an opportunity for some deals for Christmas... They are scumbags who robbed the sports goods stores first...

This is nothing compared to Belfast.. One fucking burnt out cop car... Get real..

Yep... BBC have reporters embedded and they want none of there staff marching in support of Jewish or Palestinian...

This is called Common Sense.

Absolutely. Look at the abuse muslims get. You are living in a fantasy world.

You know that freedom of speech means that people do not have to accept your narrative. The BBC is not taking sides in this conflict and that is correct.
You seem to want preferential treatment for your cause. The BBC is not obliged to comply.
Ive been on anti semitic marches in my younger days and will likely go on them again. But this was a pro Israel march and you cant be pro Israel when they are bombing babies.

Thanks. I was just guessing. Both are wrong. Both gain traction when events overseas stir up feelings.
