AZ Sheriff hires 400-person posse to hunt down Hispanics suspected to be illegals!

You are an american who is not brown. If you came here, do you honestly think you would be stopped? A lot of people in here would say no. They are the ones who thinks this law is constitutional. You see, it doesn't affect you.

funny huh. This new law is all about Race. If you wont admit that, you are being disingenuous.

Zona, are you going to be at any of the rallies tomorrow?

The anti rally's? I am going to one on Saturday and have already been to one here down town.

Watch out for the ICE van.

Yes, really. Do you even read the links you post? The law is quite clear, and the person who wrote that "article" for PolitiFact is injecting his own understanding (which is incorrect) into his writing.

The bill clearly says
For any lawful contact made by a law enforcement official or a law enforcement agency of this state or a law enforcement official or a law enforcement agency of a county, city, town or other political subdivision of this state where reasonable suspicion exists that the person is an alien who is unlawfully present in the United States, a reasonable attempt shall be made, when practicable, to determine the immigration status of the person, except if the determination may hinder or obstruct an investigation.

Which means that when an officer makes any "lawful contact" with someone he may ask for proof of citizenship. That's what the law says, it's really not that difficult to understand.

I'm telling you the FACTS that the law spells out. Your link deals with OPINIONS which are not FACTS, and neither are these opinions part of the law.

I know you don't like to deal with facts, but they are right there, and really aren't to difficult to understand.

This means, if a person is suspiciously brown, they can do what they want.

Still dont get it?

Why do you insist on making this about race (which mexican isn't a race but why bore you with facts)? Nowhere does it mention skin color in the paragraph you cited.

8 U.S.C. § 1325 : US Code - Section 1325: Improper entry by alien

Zona I said this in another thread, but come now, we are not on the border with Canada , we are on the border with Mexico, and it's a fact that the vast majority of illegal immigrants in our state come through Mexico, it is not racist to suggest this. When you go to that protest Zona just take a moment and think about how much it would mean to have a system where everyone including those that suffer the abuse of the institution of illegal immgration would benefit from a free and fair system that is enforced and fair for everyone. One reason many of those poor people suffer is because they are a source of cheap labor and political power for some, you know it andI know it. It's about time we started treating them like human beings and as such just like you and should obey they law dont you think?

Where in this bill does it say they have a provision to stop Illegal Canadians,Dutch, Italian, Polish etc?

How will they be able to spot them? Stop skirting around it, the only way to tell an illegal by sight is by skin color, period. Dont be childish.

The bill doesn't specify any particular race, ethnicity or country of origin. But you would have known that, had you read the bill.

"the only way to tell an illegal by sight is by skin color"

That would be racial profiling which is illegal and says so in the bill, you know the bill that you haven't read.

You do know there are currently about 50 thousand illegal immigrants in this country from Ireland, so how is your criteria (racial profiling) going to aid in capturing and deporting those people?

WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1070 prohibits a law enfocement official or agency of this state or a county, city, town or any political sub division of this state from soley considering race, color, or national origin in implementing Senate Bill 1070 except to the extent permitted by the United States or Arizona Consitution .

While I don't see in the bill where it say's harass people of color, I did notice that in the Executive order.

And, to illustrate everything that I've been talking about concerning potential abuses of this law we have:

Sheriff Joe Arpario, who has hired 400 deputies in a sort of permanent posse to search for and arrest Hispanics suspected of being illegal immigrants.

Here's an interesting read on the Sheriff's other abuses:

Crackdown inspired by toughest sheriff in US - Americas, World - The Independent

Excerpts from Crackdown inspired by toughest sheriff in US, By David Usborne:

Hispanics in Phoenix, Arizona, live on the patch of a man they call the "toughest sheriff in America", who, in his own way, has already been implementing many of the measures now contained in the new, state-wide immigration Bill.

He is Joe Arpaio, and stands as a symbol of what mortifies so many people about the new law – he is under investigation by the Justice Department for alleged civil rights abuses – and of the reasons it passed in the first place. And why the Governor, Janet Brewer, signed it. That's because Mr Arpaio, 77, does better with the voters the harsher he plays it. In November 2008 he was elected to serve as county sheriff for the fifth time.

In his first terms in office, Mr Arpaio was not focused on illegal immigration so much as crime generally. He rose to national prominence by opening his now infamous "tent city" prison in Phoenix, which remains in business today and was toured by this reporter last summer. Inmates boil under the canvas of army surplus tents, wear pink underclothes and sleep on pink sheets. Some work on chain gangs.

Mr Arpaio acknowledged his tactics had meant that some Hispanics had become afraid even to go to church. But that was what he wanted. By his own calculation, he and his deputies had managed to drive as many as half of all the illegal immigrants out of the city.

Sounds pretty good to me. Those folks will think twice about breaking the law again.

ROFLMNAO!

GO JOE!

Well, if Joe has driven 50% of the Illegals out of Pheonix, then he's halfway done.

Let's not lose site of the fact that Illegals do not have a right to go to church in Pheonix.

Sheriff Joe is the truest essence of an American. He dismisses entirely, the 'feelings' of the Ideological Left... He rejects the specious rationalizations by the Progressives that Illegals have RIGHTS...

ILLEGALS HAVE NO RIGHTS, beyond the basic human rights common to ALL human beings... NOT ONE OF WHICH ENTITLES THEM TO COME TO THE UNITED STATES AND DEMAND THAT THEIR EXISTENCE BE SUBSIDIZED BY SOMEONE ELSE!

Of course, NO ONE has such a right... thus the reason that the Moderate Centrist Mainstream Progressives (AKA: Anti-Americans) HATE HIS ASS!

Yeah ignore all the allegations that he abuses power he hunts down dem brown people he must be a true American.

How will this affect the illegal irish, or polish or canadians here?

Stop being childish.

The difference this time though is, they are looking for brown people. I wonder how many Hispanic american citizens will be harassed by these idiots.

Depends on how many American citizens of Hispanic decent that are participating in suspicious behavior.

By suspicious behavior, you mean by being brown of course.

No, I don't, and I don't appreciate you putting words in my mouth. Illegals come in all races and colors just like Americans. IMO, they should ALL be deported, every last one of them. To allow them to stay is a slap in the face to every legal immigrant in this nation, not to mention the millions of people who were denied entry into this country and didn't break our laws and come anyway.

By suspicious behavior, you mean by being brown of course.

Not everyone is as conscious of 'color' as you appear to be Zona. Your constant use of 'race' is pathetic.

You cannot tell an illegal by sight. They come in all races and colors just like Americans. You seem to be the biggest racist here.

Sheriff Joe's message to ALL illegal aliens - go home now. You are here illegally - that means you are a guilty of a criminal act. We have laws and punishment for people that violate our laws. When we catch you, you will go to jail and then you will be deported. Imagine the trouble and expense that will amount to! Save yourself the trouble. Go home now. If you want to come to our country apply for legal immigration. Best of luck!

However, Sheriff Joe's message to all legitimate Hispanic Americans is that he doesn't give a crap about your rights.

Not even remotely true, nor is that an assumption you can make based on facts in evidence. And I think you're telling us more about yourself than you are about Sheriff Joe in your constant assumptions that all Hispanics are lumped together and undifferentiated.

That sheriff is a Nazi. I've seen him on a drug documentary. White republicans eat hat shit up. Keep the trash out of their gated community, so what if this tool looks up a minority kid for a couple joints. Now he wants to add walking around while being brown.

In order, moron:

1) You wouldn't know a Nazi if one crawled up your pants leg and bit you on the left ass cheek, so you might as well delete THAT little epithet from your vocabulary. If anything, its use makes you sound even more brain-damaged than you otherwise do.

2) Perhaps YOU want to have a sheriff where you live who feels free to ignore the laws at his own discretion. If so, you have my permission to go ahead and elect one. Down here in Arizona, we like our sheriffs to ARREST people who break the law, and in case you hadn't heard, Cheech, owning a "couple joints" IS illegal, no matter WHAT color you are.

3) Arizona law SB 1070 does not make it illegal to "walk around while being brown". It makes it illegal to walk around Arizona while NOT HAVING LEGAL AUTHORIZATION TO BE IN THE COUNTRY, again no matter what color you are.

4) You are clearly a half-witted, two-toothed, drooling racist who can't see past a person's color to view them as human beings based on their actions. That's your character flaw and your problem, but we would all very much appreciate it if this would be the last time that you would assume that you are representative of ANY segment of society aside from other inbred, sister-marrying Klan members like yourself. SOME of us have evolved past that point (and into having opposable thumbs) and live and work quite happily alongside people of other races and ethnicities, and are now dealing with 21st century problems. Why don't you check back when you reach the same rung of the evolutionary ladder and can discuss this intelligently?

We won't hold our breath waiting.

However, Sheriff Joe's message to all legitimate Hispanic Americans is that he doesn't give a crap about your rights.

There is not a shred of evidence to support that assertion.

except the racial profiling, raids, and "random" stops of course

You mean the ones that haven't happened yet, because the law hasn't even taken effect? The ones you're seeing in your crystal ball, Miss Cleo, as you gaze into the future? THOSE racial profilings, raids, and randon stops? :cuckoo:

There is not a shred of evidence to support that assertion.

except the racial profiling, raids, and "random" stops of course

Well, there is that, but then there's also this:

Joe Arpaio’s Newest Victim By Valeria Fernández

Maria del Carmen Garcia Martinez was booked for forgery on March 6 by police in Maricopa County, Arizona. But she was never charged. Instead, six jail guards allegedly threw her to the floor and broke her left arm after she refused to sign a document that would have enabled the sheriff’s office to turn her over to immigration officials. She cried in pain all night but didn’t receive medical care for the next 20 hours.

It turns out the supposed "forgery" charge was due to the fact that Ms Martinez' California license was expired.

There are many many links documenting this case and others like it. This was just the first one on Google.

Ohmigod! You managed to find accusations of abuse on a leftwing racist Internet blog! That must means it's TRUE! The Gestapo is goosestepping up to the door as we speak!

Or not. Shut the smuck up until you have a REAL source that proves something other than your inability to use the computer for anything useful.

Right on Arizona and Sheriff Joe.

If the incompetent fed's can't do the job, just write a mirror law and do the job yourselves!

More than 70% of your constituents support you. Fuck the whiney liberal moonbats who don't.

You know, I was going to take a trip out to the Grand Canyon next year, but now I don't think so.

I don't want to visit a racist police state whose police force are a bunch of cowboys that abuse the hell out of people.

No thanks. Too bad, I would have liked to see the Grand Canyon. But I'm not giving Arizona one red cent.

How's that for a "Fuck you"? LOL.

You know, you keep deluding yourself that you're hurting Arizona by "depriving" us of your "treasured" presence. If it didn't sink in the other dozen times I've said it, take notes this time: WE DON'T WANT PEOPLE LIKE YOU HERE ANYWAY. And no, I don't mean "people of your race and ethnicity", whatever that might be. I mean dumbass self-righteous pains in the ass who presume the sun rises and sets in their anuses. We already have more than enough of you nuisances running around here without any more showing up.

I doubt they really care about your 200 bucks buddy. Nor do I think they care that one less whiney liberal will be visiting their great state.

Seriously, so what you are doing is hurting the citizens of arizona, too include the illegal cockroach CRIMINALS that you so vociferously defend, who may be employed at the grand canyon site or surrounding area. Yeah, that makes a hell of a lot of sense buddy!

Just one more shining example of loony liberal hypocrisy.

They may not care about my "200 bucks", but they'll certainly care about the "200 Bucks" of millions of potential tourists.

And Arizona has a MASSIVE tourism industry. My firm retreat was in Scottsdale last year. I bet it won't be again this year.

And when the AZ economy goes belly-up, maybe Arizonians will take a good look at themselves and realize that there's a reason no-one likes them.

So now you're the elected spokesperson for every tourist who comes to Arizona in a year, and you are personally representative of ALL of their attitudes? Does the word "hubris" ring a bell? Why don't you go look it up?

You are forgetting one thing. 70% of the people in Arizona are in favor of this new law, if that carries over nationally, they will be getting more income from more tourists as a lot of people will want to support them for that law, myself included.

If you are supportive of Arizona's right to defend and protect itself when the federal government refuses to, we would LOVE to have you visit.
