Prime Minister Tony Abbott is a volunteer member of his local bushfire brigade [Rural Fire Service]in Belrose Sydney...on Sydney's 'leafy north shore'.

Bush/forest fires local to Belrose...maybe smallish fires, not many volunteers needed, it could be that he doesn't go.
...or if he's in parliament.

But when the firestorms come, and this time the Blue Mountains were ablaze, it was all hands on deck...parliament was not in session, so he went.
