Washington and Jefferson are of course everywhere throughout the nation, statues, streets, buildings, schools, our money, etc.
They're of course even on Mt Rushmore.

They owned slaves, so obviously at some point the focus will turn to these two as well as others, as today's liberals seek to cleanse the nation of anything pertaining to past sins.

They'll be coming folks, there is no question. You might not hear the footsteps now, but they'll be coming, it's simply a matter of time.

After the Confederates, Who's Next?

On Sept. 1, 1864, Union forces under Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman, victorious at Jonesborough, burned Atlanta and began the March to the Sea where Sherman's troops looted and pillaged farms and towns all along the 300-mile road to Savannah.

Captured in the Confederate defeat at Jonesborough was William Martin Buchanan of Okolona, Mississippi, who was transferred by rail to the Union POW stockade at Camp Douglas, Illinois.

By the standards of modernity, my great-grandfather, fighting to prevent the torching of Georgia's capital, was engaged in a criminal and immoral cause. And "Uncle Billy" Sherman was a liberator.

Under President Grant, Sherman took command of the Union army and ordered Gen. Philip Sheridan, who had burned the Shenandoah Valley to starve Virginia into submission, to corral the Plains Indians on reservations.

It is in dispute as to whether Sheridan said, "The only good Indian is a dead Indian." There is no dispute as to the contempt Sheridan had for the Indians, killing their buffalo to deprive them of food.

Today, great statues stand in the nation's capital, along with a Sherman and a Sheridan circle, to honor these most ruthless of generals in that bloodiest of wars that cost 620,000 American lives.

Ah, yes, the Slippery Slope argument. that never gets old.

I see nothing wrong with putting Washington and Jefferson in Context. Jefferson wrote some wonderful things about liberty and freedom, and then he went right home and sexually abused Sally Hemings. Why not discuss both?

Beauvoir, last home of Jefferson Davis in Biloxi Ms. Has asked for the Jefferson Davis monument.

He never sexually abused his sister in law, Sally Hemings. After his wife died, Sally took over the running of her sister's home. She and Thomas Jefferson became lovers.

Are you one of those who say that all sex acts between men and women are rape?

Sally's brother and Jefferson's brother in law, James Hemmings, was his best friend. While visiting France, James became interested in cooking French cuisine. Jefferson paid for James to go to cooking school in Paris. He became quite a noted chef.

Leftists think that V wall thingy, and that unwanted soldier thing are gun nut hang outs.

Why is Albert Pike's statute so prominently in Washington, D.C? A Confederate general and one of the founders of the KKK that used the structural order of freemasonry to swear it's members to an oath of secrecy???? Could it be because Albert Pike's book "Morals And Dogma" is considered the bible of Scottish Rite Freemasonry???? And that most of the members of congress are high degreed freemasons????

Don't forget Yale University........if we are taking down monuments of democrats because of their desire to keep black slaves...then Yale University should be shut down.....the founder of Yale was an actual slave seller...who murdered slaves who were discipline problems.......

Yale needs to be shut down.....and the buildings torn down...right?

i'm sure that the Trilateralists Jesuit Bilderberger Lizard People are behind it, Crazy Dale... and they just want you to take your meds.

No, I'm one of those people who thinks that a sex act where one of the people involved can be legally sold or whipped is probably defacto rape... as 'consent' is meaningless under those circumstances.

Sally's brother and Jefferson's brother in law, James Hemmings, was his best friend. While visiting France, James became interested in cooking French cuisine. Jefferson paid for James to go to cooking school in Paris. He became quite a noted chef.

I think you are a little confused. Sally and her brother were not "in-laws' or "family" just because they were fathered by Jefferson's father in law. They were property, plain and simple. And sending your "property" to cooking school so he can cook better meals for you and the rest of the white people while he still has to go out and sleep in the slave quarters is not equality.

And thus you have the contradiction of America. A country founded on some truly lofty ideals with a very dark underbelly of genocide, slavery and the exploitation of immigrants.

You can still admire the great things that Jefferson did while also recognizing he did some pretty shitty stuff, too.

In the case of the Confederate monuments, you just don't have anything great to recognize. These were a bunch of shitty people who tried to destroy the union so a few rich people could keep owning other people and profiting off their cheap labor.

Um, no, just put into context.

Whites owned slaves. .Whites practiced segregation. It was bi partisan.

Ask Ulysses S. Grant.

Republicans Revise The History Of Slavery to Make Themselves The Party of Equal Rights.

It's a good point. Nobody in 1865 really believed that blacks were equal to white people. Nor more than they believed Irish immigrants were equal to WASP's.

The Civil War was fought because of slavery, and yes, part of that was that the North just didn't like the fact the south had cheap slave labor.

The Republicans won the civil war.....and freed the slaves. If the democrats had won the civil war.....blacks would still be slaves.....

The democrat party was the party of slavery, the Republican party was the party of abolition....

Nope.......it was built by a slave owner...according to the left, it must go....
