I don't think gold will be useful if things get as bad as they could. Gold doesnt really matter that much when people are starving. Food is.

What will happen if Obama successfully passes cap and trade. What happens if he succeeds at making gasoline $7 a gallon? How will any farmer afford to get their food to any market? We'd be look at $20 gallons of milk. We'd have incredibly high bread prices. We will have supermarkets looking like they are in third world nations.

Everyone seems to think we will have nothing but prospertity for as long as we all shall live. But it's not reality. Things get better. Things get worse. It's part of life. And if we live in denial of that, we wont be ready when things do get worse. And trust me, this is nothing compared to what it will be if we dont start significantly changing our nation back to the Republic it was designed to be.

I've thought about such a scenario a time or two lately.

I live in an affluent residential area but only a mile or so away is a nasty ghetto area. We know they're there and they know we're here. We're invaded every Halloween night with hordes of kids from there, cars bumper to bumper on our streets disgorging alien trick or treaters. We don't want them coming here and they know it due to various t or t restrictions we've instituted to preserve the tradition for the kids that live here.

So if something catastrophic ever did occur that lead to some degree of anarchy, I have no doubt we'd be a target for much more than our free candy. I'm prepared for such an occurrence, but only another couple or so of my neighbors are. The others just don't think anything will ever happen that they should be prepared for. Hope they're right because if they're wrong it will be too late to do much about it.

What you need to do is to go on a preemptive rampage. Go into the ghetto and kill as many people as you can and set fire to everything.

That way, everyone knows that the rich people living in Oakwood Estates mean binness!

No I am not prepared and even if you have guns and food stocked up and gold buried in your back yard, neither are you prepared enough if the economy keeps going down.

Nothing will really prepare us for anarchy.

If you really want to prepare for the fall of civilization, be nice, I mean really really nice to your neighbors.

Because when/if civilization collapses, it will be upon those people whom your wellbeing will most depend.

In other words, the best way to weather anarchy is to create a small civilization locally to hold anarchy at bay.

THEN all your preparations might help to weather that storm.

Civilizations are not build with guns.

They are build by people working (sometime fighting, too) TOGETHER to keep anarchy at bay.

Our society is falling apart right now, because far too many of us believed the RANDIAN Philosophy that:

GREED IS GOOD.​

This extremist philsophical approach to living means that sooner or later everybody sees everybody else as THE ENEMY.

ADD to this mix the fact that our media sets us up to blame: the liberals the conservatives, welfare mothers, gun owners Christians, non Christians, hippies, NAZIs, Blacks, Jews, Whites, the Chinese or whoever.

Thus our ersatz-gold guilded age is tarnishing pretty damned fast, folks.

None of us are on any meds or require glasses or any other medical attention. I also have a PDR & home remedies books, But just in case I have food, gold, silver, copper, transportation, & weapons. I can get med more supplies.

I wasnt sure what forum to stick this thread in. But since current events seem to be leading us to difficult times, I figured why not here?

So are you prepared for the days ahead? Things are going to get messy soon. I think that much is obvious. I don't know how bad the economy will get. It may even get better for a short time. But there is only a certain amount of time before governments through the world start collapsing and unfortunately, since we are all interconnected, there is likely to be a ripple effect through the nations.

So what are you doing to prepare? What ideas do you have?

I know some people are stocking up on guns, but is that all we will need?

Are you writing this from your community bunker in Montana?

No! 70% of the time I live in a major metro city & commute 90 miles to the farm where I also have a home on weekends & spend 30% of my time, planting & harvest season. I & 3 family members own the farm 100% free & clear. We share in the operation of it & grow a large garden from witch we can most of our food. I have large trucks in the city that are EMP proof to transport my family & belongings to there is case of an event.

I am holding on to money. I have withdrawn most of it from my bank, should we have a cyber attack on a global scale. I may be overreacting, but I would rather err on the side of caution. My money is in my fireproof safe. I like knowing that.
