Are we trying to win a debate or an election?

If your ass doesn't win the debate I doubt your ass will win the election. Stepping stones.

Just wondering lately.

This should be an interesting thread.

I have yet to hear how Newt Gingrich is going to win over the moderates and independents from his newfound supporters.

For myself, I believe that many of the GOP is lusting after someone who will try to score a knockout punch rather than win on points. Many in the GOP hate the opponent so much that they would prefer a loss in the election if it means the opponent gets carried from the ring.

Your OP was vague as hell but it sounds to me that you do not like the attacks that are being leveled at the candidates by each other because it is 'hurting' the republican ticket in the end. If that is what you're getting at, then I would like to disagree. I hope the primary is as tough as hell because all of these attacks are going to be used by Obama. It is far better for them to come out and be old news when the actual election rolls around rather than a big scandal weeks before people vote.

Considering the mediazation of America is there much difference?
Isn't the most important candidate poll actually the neilson ratings?

Newt wins in the hair category and poor ol Ron is still in last place on the hair episode too :(

And I have already seen threads about sex with Newt.
Face it folks Newt appears the likely media winner.

Then you just are not listening, dude. Gingrich will win because MOST AMERICANS ARE CONSERVATIVE. They self-identify as conservative or leaning to conservatism. Libtards are about one out of five Americans and they only vote Democrat or Socialist Party anyway so who needs them?

Take your meds and pay fracking attention, will you?

If you are talking about opposition to Romney it is because the man is like a Nixon on steroids.

He will say or do anything to anyone to win the nomination. I really fear for my country should he become President. I would much prefer Obama to Romney as Obama is more honest than Romney and has genuine concern for average Americans even if it is confused.

Romney eats Americans on Main Street for a snack daily.

Isn't the debate the point of the election?

My third biggest problem with Romney (after his whacky religion and his business practices) is that I have absolutely no idea where he stands on much of anything?

Is he for a mandate or against a mandate?

Is he for abortion rights or against abortion rights?

Is he for gay marriage or against it?

A debate is about what your party stands for and what it will fight for when elected. This is why I think the TEA party was able to win. It had a clear agenda. Get control over spending and repeal ObamaCare.

Romney seems to be for whatever his focus groups tell him he's for.

Now, if you want to make the argument that we should all get behind Romney because he's "electable", and winning the election is everything, I have two problems with that.

First, if he doesn't stand for anything, how do we know he is going to effect any change.

Second- I'd be more impressed with his electability if he could actually win elections. He lost to Ted Kennedy, he Chickened out against Devall Patrick, He's been beaten so far by Mike Huckabee, John McCain, Rick Santorum(!!!!) and Newt Gingrich. If he can't beat these people, what chance is he really going to have against Barack Obama? If Mitt Romney were a baseball team, he'd be the Chicago Cubs. (without the lovability).

Oh, I think he beat a non-entity named Jan Swift once. Who is Jan Swift? Good question.

I think it's more than that.

I don't worry about how the moderates and independents. They go with the flow. If the economy is better in November, they'll stick with Obama, and if the economy is shit, they'll go with Newt.

I'd go with Passion and Enthusiasm more than Calculation.

I mean, on paper, John Kerry should have been the ideal candidate. So should have John McCain. They both lost badly. We aren't going to beat Obama with calculation and focus groups. We are going to win it with leadership and passion.

I'm an Indi and Barry hasn't show me jack shit as far as the economy and jobs.

Pretty speeches ain't gonna fix the economy and his policies ain't done jack.

Get him out and someone with a clue in.
