Are Christians required to keep the Sabbath?

I think not. Here's why.

Believers are not obligated to observe the Sabbath. The Sabbath was the sign of the Mosaic covenant. The Mosaic covenant and the Sabbath as the covenant sign are no longer applicable now that the new covenant of Jesus Christ has come. Believers are called upon to honor and respect those who think the Sabbath is still mandatory for believers. But if one argues that the Sabbath is required for salvation, such a teaching is contrary to the gospel and should be resisted forcefully. In any case, Paul makes it clear in both Romans 14:5 and Colossians 2:16–17 that the Sabbath has passed away now that Christ has come. It is wise naturally for believers to rest, and hence one principle that could be derived from the Sabbath is that believers should regularly rest. But the New Testament does not specify when that rest should take place, nor does it set forth a period of time when that rest should occur. We must remember that the early Christians were required to work on Sundays. They worshiped the Lord on the Lord’s Day, the day of Jesus’ resurrection, but the early Christians did not believe the Lord’s Day fulfilled or replaced the Sabbath. The Sabbath pointed toward eschatological rest in Christ, which believers enjoy in part now and will enjoy fully on the Last Day.

My Sunday calendar is many skipped Sabbaths , in the case of Mercy and Necessity, as listed in the Shorter Chatechism, as Stonewall Jackson and wife memorized, as for doing battle on the Sabbath. My calendar looks like ,Mercy and Necessity,Mercy and Necessity,Mercy and Necessity,

Dear @Magnifat
Please specify which you mean
1. required to keep the Sabbath to be in keeping with God's laws
2. required to keep the Sabbath "as a condition for Salvation"

These two are not the same thing.
You are right, that "keeping the Sabbath"
is NOT A CONDITION for Salvation in Christ Jesus.

Believers would be CALLED to obey both
Scriptural AND Civil laws and authority.
But neither is a "REQUIREMENT" for Salvation.
It's more the OPPOSITE:
Once someone receives Christ Jesus in spirit,
then it naturally follows they either follow the laws
or receive correction and accept rebuke if they trespass
so that they better adhere and establish laws as part
of an ONGOING process. That's BECAUSE someone
commits to follow Jesus or Justice and to embody
this Spiritual Authority of Laws by CONSCIENCE.
Not a CONDITION but more a CONSEQUENCE.
The two become CORRELATED as part of the
process of establishing justice and truth,
first individually, then in relations with neighbors,
and then collectively as humanity as a whole body.

There are actually two Sabbath's
the Day of Rest and the Sabbath Feast.

The 10 Commandments, which also include
keeping the Sabbath holy, do not pass away
but are fulfilled.

Christ Jesus came to fulfill the law not abolish it.

What passes away is we no longer make conditions
of the laws and enforce them in the old school sense.

So in a sense, yes, we no longer live by the "letter of the law"
as a "condition on Salvation." But believers still follow the
laws by conscience, whichever ways are given to them by God
to respect and follow. Different tribes are given slightly different
focus, but you are right these are no longer "conditions." And
certainly should never become as "stumbling blocks" (see below)

Colossians 2:16-17 King James Version (KJV)

16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
\17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

=====
Romans 14:1-23 KJV

1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, [but] not to doubtful disputations.

2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day [alike]. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth [it] unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard [it]. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.

8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.

9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

11 For it is written, [As] I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in [his] brother's way.

14
I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that [there is] nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him [it is] unclean.

15 But if thy brother be grieved with [thy] meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of:

17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

18 For he that in these things serveth Christ [is] acceptable to God, and approved of men.

19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

20 For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed [are] pure; but [it is] evil for that man who eateth with offence.

21 [It is] good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor [any thing] whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

22 Hast thou faith? have [it] to thyself before God. Happy [is] he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because [he eateth] not of faith: for whatsoever [is] not of faith is sin.

Christian's are REQUIRED to observe the SEVENTH DAY SABBATH. It is the only real Sabbath. The other is the creation of the Great Whore

Dear Death Angel
Quite the opposite, in Christ Jesus there are no stumbling blocks
but all error or conflicts can be removed and resolved by truth.

By the New Testament restoration of justice in Christ Jesus
there is no more twisting of scriptures by the letter of the law.

Believers unite in agreement on forgiving past conflicts
and correcting based on truth that sets all relation
free from strife, error and stumbling block conditions.

We resolve all issues in Christ Jesus to establish agreement in truth.

Do you understand that all issues are resolved.
So there is no more haggling or twisting of laws.

All things are made right, good, whole and perfect
in Christ Jesus.

Rev 21:4-5 Behold I make all things new

Revelation 21:5

2And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 6And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Matthew 5:48
“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”

but perfect love casteth out fear:
because fear hath torment.
He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”

Quite the opposite, in Christ Jesus there are no stumbling blocks
but all error or conflicts can be removed and resolved by truth.

By the New Testament restoration of justice in Christ Jesus
there is no more twisting of scriptures by the letter of the law.

Believers unite in agreement on forgiving past conflicts
and correcting based on truth that sets all relation
free from strife, error and stumbling block conditions.

We resolve all issues in Christ Jesus to establish agreement in truth.

Do you understand that all issues are resolved.

1 John 4:18

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”

And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

WHO changed the Sabbath to SUNday?

the Saint Catherine Catholic Church Sentinel from May 21, 1995, had the following to say:

“Perhaps the boldest thing, the most revolutionary change the Church (Catholic) ever did, happened in the first century. The holy day, the Sabbath, was changed from Saturday to Sunday. ‘The Day of the Lord’ ( dies domini ) was chosen, not from any direction noted in the Scriptures, but from the Church’s sense of its own power … People who think that the Scriptures should be the sole authority, should logically … keep Saturday holy” (emphasis added).

Cardinal James Gibbons, the Archbishop of Baltimore, was also very open about the change from the seventh-day Sabbath to Sunday.

“You may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we never sanctify. The Catholic Church correctly teaches that our Lord and His Apostles inculcated certain important duties of religion which are not recorded by the inspired writers … We must, therefore, conclude that the Scriptures alone cannot be a sufficient guide and rule of faith” (Gibbons, James, The Faith of our Fathers, 1917, page 89).

Dear @Magnifat
Please specify which you mean
1. required to keep the Sabbath to be in keeping with God's laws
2. required to keep the Sabbath "as a condition for Salvation"

These two are not the same thing.
You are right, that "keeping the Sabbath"
is NOT A CONDITION for Salvation in Christ Jesus.

Believers would be CALLED to obey both
Scriptural AND Civil laws and authority.
But neither is a "REQUIREMENT" for Salvation.
It's more the OPPOSITE:
Once someone receives Christ Jesus in spirit,
then it naturally follows they either follow the laws
or receive correction and accept rebuke if they trespass
so that they better adhere and establish laws as part
of an ONGOING process. That's BECAUSE someone
commits to follow Jesus or Justice and to embody
this Spiritual Authority of Laws by CONSCIENCE.
Not a CONDITION but more a CONSEQUENCE.
The two become CORRELATED as part of the
process of establishing justice and truth,
first individually, then in relations with neighbors,
and then collectively as humanity as a whole body.

Sorry I thought you were talking about something else.

We don't disagree.
I agree we keep the Sabbath
We follow the laws NATURALLY BY FAITH.

Which is DIFFERENT from enforcing them as conditions.

We no longer ENSLAVE anyone to laws LEGALISTICALLY
in the spirit of judgment or rejection, trying to condemn
or be a "stumbling block" condition for others to fail.

Is this more clear?

The point is NOT to become so lax that anyone disrespects the laws.
The point is to follow freely by choice to commit to Christ Jesus
authority which then FULFILLS the laws. Both the SPIRIT and the LETTER
are fulfilled that way, by putting the SPIRIT first so the LETTER NATURALLY FOLLOWS.

But not vice versa.
If we put the LETTER before the SPIRIT this can cause stumbling
blocks where NEITHER gets met. That's what I am pointing out.

If we do this RIGHT, then we FOLLOW BOTH THE SPIRIT
and the LETTER of the law in that order. Thank you Death Angel
and I agree with you there should be no "twisting" or taking
laws out of context with the WHOLE and SPIRIT of the law
where you lose both. That's not what I was trying to do either
sorry this wasn't clear.

Oh but we DO disagree.

Here's the fir time the Christian church faced persecution over the Seventh Day Sabbath:

Constantine created the earliest Sunday law known to history in AD 321. It says this:

On the venerable Day of the sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed. In the country, however, persons engaged in agriculture may freely and lawfully continue their pursuits: because it often happens that another Day is not so suitable for grain sowing or for vine planting: lest by neglecting the proper moment for such operations the bounty of heaven should be lost.ii

Chamber’s Encyclopedia says this:

Unquestionably the first law, either ecclesiastical or civil, by which the Sabbatical observance of that Day is known to have been ordained, is the edict of Constantine, 321 A.D.iii

Following this initial legislation, both emperors and Popes in succeeding centuries added other laws to strengthen Sunday observance. What began as a pagan ordinance ended as a Christian regulation. Close on the heels of the Edict of Constantine followed the Catholic Church Council of Laodicea (circa 364 AD):

Christians shall not Judaize and be idle on Saturday (Sabbath), but shall work on that Day: but the Lord’s Day, they shall especially honour; and as being Christians, shall, if possible, do no work on that day. If however, they are found Judaizing, they shall be shut out from Christ.iv

Christian's are REQUIRED to observe the SEVENTH DAY SABBATH. It is the only real Sabbath. The other is the creation of the Great Whore

Here's a plan, Man. Why don't you go protect some sick people and help some children, eh.

I don't believe that's who you are.
