Who was the worse bigot?
Some people say that Archie was the worst of the two because he was white and therefore his prejudicial behavior was from racist and supremacist upbringing by his father while George was from a put-upon minority and his prejudice was reactionary.
Archie was a product of his time when it was nationally believed that the Caucasian male was suppose to rule. Then when the civil rights and the following generation starts throwing it into his face that its all wrong and he is wrong to follow it. Essentially Archie's generation was left 'holding the bag'. This consequently can make Archie a rather tragic figure as he is left frustrated and thwarted by a society that expected him to grow up to be the Boss man, only to then get slapped down for his superiority complex .
As for George, he's a black man who beat the odds, climbed out of the slums and made it into upper-middle class society and lives in a high-rise apartment with many people at his beck-and-call.
Yet he still hates white people and believes that the White man still owes him an apology and a living, when quite frankly many white people are blue-collar stiffs who work their fingers to the bone just to get by and don't need to listen to someone better off than themselves barking at them for what happened 50+ years ago.
As bigoted as Archie was, he was still likeable and tried to be nice to black Elmo, Lynol and Mrs Jefferson.
As for George, he was an angry, horrible hateful racist that treated all whites like crap.
