Zone1 Anyone here personally or know of someone who has converted to another religion?

You chose the wrong schools to learn from. Try Google and know the meaning of Orthodox.
Take your own advice. Use Google to learn what the Eastern Orthodox Church is. I was nice enough to help you, but you seem incapable of either learning or saying thank you.

Thank you for deflecting? Come on man! The name is not important. The RCC believes they are the true orthodox church. Orthodox is not a name or proper name. It's really an idea of correctness and truth. Which all Churches believe they are.

The Eastern and Western Catholic Churches split over a thousand years ago. One became known as the Roman Catholic Church; the other became known as the Eastern Orthodox Church.

Again, the word is meaningless when it comes to a "NAME" of a church. All Christian churches believe they are the correct and true church. That's what orthodox means. The Baptists could rename their church the Orthodox Baptist Church. Doesn't change a thing.

Orthodox Church is a proper noun.

Russian Orthodox Church - Wikipedia

Greek Orthodox Church - Wikipedia

Oriental Orthodox Churches - Wikipedia

Coptic Orthodox Church - Wikipedia

Bulgarian Orthodox Church - Wikipedia

I could go on, but what's the point? None of these churches care if you don't like what they call themselves.

Like I said, Orthodox is an idea where a church believes they are the true and only church of Jesus Christ. When you use "Orthodox" as part of the name of the church, it has no meaning. While RCC believes they are the only true church or Orthodox church, they don't have the word "Orthodox" in the title of their church. Do you have a learning disability?

The RCC has the word catholic in it's name. Go look up the word catholic.

i am not alluding to a different branch of sect of their current religion of Faith, but an entirely new religion altogether? I believe there are probably many converts to Buddhism simply because the process is far more simple and private. Other religions are more difficult

Anyone?

Thank you for your time.
Anyone that denounces the "god" of this world (Satan 2 Cor. 4:4) and begins serving God, has changed his/her religion, regardless of what doctrine they declare.

in many aspects, "orthodox" and "catholic" have some overlapping meanings. Both believe they are the continuity of the church from Peter. However, churches that are not RCC believe the RCC deviated and polluted the doctrines, ordinances and meanings. Again, its a word that isn't a proper noun. It's an idea or tribal. RCC believes they are the orthodoxy. Good grief. So-called Christians are really mixed up.

A few. A couple of Jews to Chrisian denominations. Some whites to a form of Native religion. One to Islam.

Universal? Still not in the Holy Bible, just like Christmass or Easter are not found in the Holy Bible..........UNIVERSAL is simply a man made tradition, its not based upon scripture
he probably means EASTERN ORTHODOX CHURCH
Orthodox: Original Doctrine...........not to go beyond what is written -- 1 Cor. 4:6 (the Holy Scriptures, were faith has its foundation -- Romans 10:16) "faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God." Not Papal decree. ORTHODOX: Christian: "set of rules/doctrine" established by the early/original church (1st century implied)

SOLA SCRIPTURA: SCRIPTURE ALONE. Sola scriptura - Wikipedia

Sola Scriptura = Orthodox (orginal) Christianity. The "protestant"/reformation movement of the 1500s started with a common declaration to revert to the Orthodox faith. (protest of Roman Catholic doctrine that does not garner doctrine from the Word of God, but from the tradition of church/Papal decree) There are many different supposed Christian denominations that self define themselves as Orthodox. But in reality there is only ONE AUTHORIZED denomination found in the Word of God (Eph. 4:5-6).......the church/kingdom given to Jesus Christ by the Father (Matthew 16, 28:18-20).

If anyone turns away from the Doctrine originally provided by Jesus Christ in the Word of God.........there is a curse placed upon them. "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you, let him be accursed..............." -- Gal. 1:8-9

Logic/Reason: There can be any number of false doctrines, but only ONE truly "Orthodox" church. Truth does not evolve, truth is the same for everyone regardless of what tradition man might want to inject in their personal doctrine. The church that Christ rules has only one name...........it belongs to Jesus Christ and it takes its doctrine expressly from the record found in the Word of God. "All scripture is given by inspiration of God (the Greek term inspired literally means God's Breath), and it is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfectly furnished unto all good works." -- 2 Tim. 3:16-17

It's a branch of Christianity that split off from Roman Catholicism in 1054 AD.

Sort of. Orthodox Christianity is Christianity as it was practiced in the time of the original church Fathers (1st-4th centuries). Our liturgy was written in the 4th century by St. John Chrysostom, Archbishop of Constantinople. Catholicism split from Orthodoxy in 1054 when the Catholic Church recognized the Archbishop of Rome as a pope and the Orthodox Church did not.
