It's a law that requires people to have a thing called healthcare. The difference is those using the exchanges under it are getting theirs handed to them because someone else is funding it. Insurance works when people pay in to share a risk.

Making my insurance go up, to cover somebody that does not pay, is morally wrong.

And the pre-existing conditions thing, well, why not apply that to life insurance?

I want a few millions' worth on my pre-existingly dead parents.

I was to irresponsible to insure them when they were alive, why shouldn't I be able to buy some now that I realize my mistake.

Try getting life insurance if you have pre-existing conditions at a rate equal to those without them. However, when it comes to health insurance, the bleeding hearts want the person that will be at the doctor on a regular basis to get coverage at the same price or even cheaper than those who haven't been to one in years.
