Zone1 American after living abroad

Are people actually making plans to move abroad?

yes. The number of American ex-pats is growing each year. My wife and I are making that plan, we have about 5.5 years till we retire and plan to be ex-pats. our first choice right now is Panama, we are making our first trip there in Feb to see if it lives up to the hype. While there we will meet in person some Ex-pats we have been talking to on line and we will also visit with the VSO that operates out of Panama City

and a giveaway to the greedy idiot lying scumbag GOP mega rich. Any complaints you have against the Democrats are total baloney. That's all the GOP has now fake news.... After 40 years of Reaganist flat tax system we have the worst inequality upward mobility poverty and homelessness by far in our history or anywhere in the modern world. Wake up and smell the coffee super Duper

Inflation is

Inflation is only part of it.

This country is not the same country it was even 20 years ago, and it is not getting better.

Not to mention, it is a big world out there, why limit yourself to just one part of it?

You want to move to a Central AMerican country that is even closer to the drug cartels than Texas, or the other Southern states?

Good luck....

and yet they do not have the drug problems there that we do in the US.

In the US there are 300 drug deaths per million people, in Panama it is 0.41.

Think about that for a second, the US is 700 times worse than Panama in the area of drug related deaths.

That sounds nice.

I hear some people close to me float the idea that they want to settle or retire in one of the Gulf countries or want to retire back in their home country. The only roadblock they find is that a lot of their countries of their origin won't have the same luxuries or amenities as America would.

There are are trade offs. No country will be just like the US. There are things we have now we will not have when we move. But none are necessary to a happy life. Things like getting almost anything from Amazon in 2 days or food from 100 different places brought to my door at a whim.

They are things we take advantage of because they are there, but they are not necessary.

I agree, technology has made us more used to things that we don’t really need.

Imagine telling someone in 2005 about all of technology we have now in 2023. Their head would start spinning and they wouldn’t believe you.

Indeed. It will be an adjustment for sure. We have lived overseas before so we have some idea of what to expect.

Biggest liars ever til the New BS GOP.... ignoramus

Sorry but the liar is you.

Lenin proceeds by referring to Marx’s Critique of the Gotha Programme, in which he draws a distinction between the lower phase of communist society (sometimes referred to as socialism), and the higher stage of communism. The emerging lower stage of communism still bears the birthmarks of the old capitalist society; while exploitation has been abolished, there is not yet full equality as distribution is still based on the amount of labour performed.

I do not give a damn what communist Nazis and GOP base voters have to say about anything, they're totally misinformed or just wrong like communists. Socialism is democratic and seems to be the final solution like in France Germany australia New Zealand etcetera.

The country has been going to hell since Reagan was elected and cut taxes on the rich and investment in America and Americans. Today we have the worst inequality upward mobility poverty and homelessness ever anywhere by far, Super Duper.
