America On The Brink: It Took Trump 8 Days To Bring The U.S. To The Brink Of A Constitutional Crisis

We are either a nation of laws - or we aren't. If Trump doesn't obey the laws - why should we?

You weren't worried about your dear leader ignoring the law and Constitution, hell his DOJ lied to judges and his attorney general was held in contempt of congress, that didn't phase you hypocrites a bit. That makes you nothing but a partisan hack with absolutely no proof that Trump has violated anything.
Quit changing the subject.

Quit being a fucking hypocrite.

Like when Holder was held in contempt for refusing to turn over documents in the Fast and Furious scandal? That kind of above the law?

But, but, but Holder. You NaziCons have the attention span of a gnat. BTW, Holder was never president.

Link to the President ignoring a court order?

Here's a link to Holder blatantly defying a court order...

No, I am not a liberal, I am fiscal conservative Independent. Obama used executive
privilege
to stop these fast & furious documents from being released.

BUT

Well we'll see if Comrade Trump releases his income tax returns over this Russian investigation, as the Senate plans to use Subpoenas.

The Comrade has repeatedly stated he would release his returns once the audit was done, but has recently stated NO he's not going to release them, even after the audit is complete.
Trump Will Not Release His Tax Returns, Senior Adviser Says

The point is in my old age, I do not remember any President, where a Federal Court had to step him and slap a sitting President around in the very first week of his term, over a breach of the U.S. Constitution.

The usual hysterical ranting from the usual crybabies.
Will these people EVER get over finding out that normal Americans reject their agenda and ideology? :itsok:

RWs on this board will never admit they were wrong about Trump. The time they come close it will be too late for it to even matter.

Wrong about what, he's doing exactly what he said he would do. I know your not accustomed to a president that does that, but you'll get used to it.

Yeah, dumbass, but it was dismissed. Get to the bottom line and stop your NaziCon fake news bullshit. Oh, and stop trolling this thread.

Reading for comprehension not your strong suit?

“The suit is in his official capacity, so I think the new AG, whoever that is, will be substituted as defendant in the suit under Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. It should have no bearing on his departure or his life after his service as AG,” said Stanley M. Brand, a former general counsel to the House who specializes in defending witnesses facing government investigations.

Contempt of Congress case against Holder will proceed
Where was your outrage at being "above the law"? You were cheering Holders defying of a federal court order.

All the obfuscation in the world is never going to change that.

Oh gawd, back to Trump's taxes. There is no legal requirement for him to release his taxes. But go ahead and waste all you energy on the matter.

“Obedience to specific court orders is what keeps us from being a banana republic or fascist dictatorship. That’s a really big deal.”

It took little more than a week in office for President Donald Trump to thrust the nation to the brink of a constitutional crisis.

Late Friday, Trump issued an executive order forbidding millions of refugees, hundreds of thousands of visitors and 500,000 legal immigrants from seven majority-Muslim countries from entering the United States. Over the following 48 hours, massive protests erupted in cities and airports nationwide, courts temporarily blocked major parts of the order, the administration defied the courts and Democrats called for an investigation into the administration’s defiance. As the weekend drew to a close, an anonymous White House official proclaimed the whole episode a “massive success story.”

The federal courts thought otherwise. On Saturday night, a judge in Brooklynordered the Trump administration to stop deporting refugees and visitors immigration authorities had previously cleared to enter the country. Two judges in Massachusetts ordered that travelers who were legally authorized to be in the United States shouldn’t be detained at or deported from Logan International Airportfor a period of seven days. A judge in Seattle halted the deportation of two travelers. And a judge in Virginia issued an order requiring the administration to allow lawyers access to lawful permanent residents — also known as green card holders — whom Customs and Border Protection agents had detained at Dulles International Airport on Trump’s instructions.

When federal judges rule, government officials — up to and including the president — are supposed to obey or risk being held in contempt of court. A government that ignored the courts would be able to violate the law and the Constitution at will. So for more than two centuries, the nation’s courts have had the last word on what’s legal and constitutional — and what is not. “We are and will remain in compliance with judicial orders,” the Department of Homeland Securitysaid in a statement Sunday evening.

But there was little indication that the Trump administration has fully complied with the court orders — or that Trump’s inner circle even believed the administration had to do so.

Disobeying a court order “is a big deal for any government official — federal, state, local, executive, legislative, whatever,” said Abner Greene, a law professor at Fordham University. “Obedience to specific court orders is what keeps us from being a banana republic or fascist dictatorship. That’s a really big deal.”

The chaos “doesn’t just risk a constitutional crisis,” argued Michael Dorf, a professor at Cornell Law School. “Assuming the report is accurate, it creates one.” If the Trump administration believes that the court orders limiting the president’s executive order are unlawful, it can file an emergency appeal, Dorf noted. But “outright defiance,” he added, “can only be deemed disrespect for the rule of law.”

Trump obviously believes that he is above the law. He must be quickly and clearly shown that he isn't.

Are you going to mention the law that Trump is breaking? Or keeping that one to yourself?

Biggest bunch of bullshit I've seen yet.

Enforcing existing laws is what we should do.

Obama ignored laws and put Muslims ahead of our country. It has been the left that has tried to destroy our constitution and it is not believable now that they claim to care about it.

Presidents in the past have temporarily banned immigration from hostile countries. Even Obama had deemed places as terrorist hotbeds and those are the places where the temporary ban is placed pending a better vetting system. It makes no sense to trust governments who support terrorists to tell us who should be allowed to enter our country. We've already seen vetted individuals commit acts of terror after coming here. It's not a joke.

There is no reason on earth to bring all these people here when there is plenty of room in the wealthy Muslim countries for them to stay until it's safe to return to Syria or wherever.

We must go by the laws, which exist for our safety, when it comes to any immigrants. Illegal immigration is not allowed. Period.

Since when do we allow refugee status for people who simply want better schools? The UN stated that is the reason why most people are being seeded around the world. I call bullshit and think the seeding is all about spreading Islam.

Islam is a government, and a crappy one at that. It's a government that does not allow freedom or any rights to women. It's an archaic and barbaric government that has no place in today's world.

Actually Trump knows the law is on his side.

This might be what this country looks like when it dies.

The left is in an agony of anti government fantasy. The left does not seem to realize that it has made a strong and committed opposition.

Tear it down. We will at least be rid of your insanity.
