If I were a Leftist intending to act on those sentiments, I'd be watching my own back first.

Let me lay it out for you. Just for the fun of it, suppose this goes violent, like some of the Left hopes it will. While you're at it, suppose government even sides with you, and abrogates at least part of the constitution and settled law to meet those little "demands" you have. Now, Let's say you decide merely threatening the "fat cats" you hate, isn't enough, and you violently attack them or their interests.

While you are planing and doing that, they are not going to be just sitting there waiting for the knife the Molotov cocktail, or a bullet. No, they are going to hire themselves some serious protection. Meanwhile, with the constitution null and void, the active military that swore allegiance to it (the oath is to the constitution, nothing more, nothing less), will either protect them, or stand down. A few of them may join your side. Many others, past and present, will oppose you, on ideological grounds. Guess who they will side with. I suspect money will convince a lot more to go over to what you might call corporate armies (Think Blackwater, times a multiple of THOUSANDS). Many more , with combat experience, will be available (for money or ideology), to help train them. You will then be fighting a guerrilla war, against what are essentially mercenaries, who don't play by any rules, don't give any quarter, and would just as soon kill you, as step on a bug. I may or may not be too old to kill you on a battlefield, but if I train the guy who does, you will be just as dead either way. It won't take a lot of high-tech weaponry (though big money can doubtless procure some); that kind of warfare is basically a low-tech enterprise, in which combat skills trump numbers. What have you got to counter that? Whatever military experience you can scrape together, plus assorted union thugs and street punks, to go against experienced, and/or well trained, professionals. Like your chances? I don't think they are too good.

In short, these people are not intimidated by what you represent, and especially not by threats. Act on those threats, and you will be confronted not only by your ideological foes on the right, but by the best security forces money can buy (and that is assuming the standing military doesn't step in and stop you before you can even really get started). You are about to mess with far more than a bunch of amateur rebels can deal with. If that prospect appeals to any of you, the Left is even crazier than I thought.

Actually, no – the ‘left’ believes conservatives are reactionary ideologues who desire to ‘return’ to an America that can never be returned to, and indeed never really existed. Conservative dogma will always conflict with liberal pragmatism.

Otherwise liberals are as much advocates of capitalism and the profit motive as any conservative; many liberals are business owners. As pragmatists, however, they understand the ‘invisible hand’ is too weak in this era of mass-production and international markets to provide adequate regulation.

Hopefully this will get weak 'i vote to not lose' individuals such as yourself to either join his side, or get the outta his way.
