I was under the impression that SS and Medicare are government insurance programs that are funded with the SS and Medicare taxes that are taken from every wage earners pay check. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Medicaid is a different program and is not part of SS or Medicare and is paid for with federal and state taxes.
