We WON the war...numbnuts. The occupation, however, was lost before the invasion ever began due to the failure of the Bush administration to implement State Department post war plans and, contrary to the advice of military commanders, sending in too few troops to maintain the peace once the war was won.

President bush wants the surge, Im not sure how most republicans feel about it, but most dems oppose it, and it seems hypocritial to this extent.

I have no doubt that the sunnis in Iraq could become a free and democratic nationstate. I have no doubt that the shiites in Iraq could become a free and democratic nationstate. I have no doubt that the kurds in Iraq could become a free and democratic nationstate.

I only have doubts about the three groups being forced together by the west and expected to become a free and democratic nationstate given the animosity between them that was 800 years old before Columbus landed.
