The lawsuit is perfectly appropriate and justified, given the facts of the case:

"The Justice Department announced today that it had filed a lawsuit against the city of Des Plaines, Illinois, alleging that the city violated the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act of 2000 (RLUIPA) when it refused to allow the American Islamic Center (AIC) to operate a place of worship in a vacant office building it had contracted to purchase.

The complaint, filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago, alleges that the city of Des Plaines imposed a substantial burden on the AIC’s exercise of religion and otherwise discriminated against AIC based on religion when it refused to grant its request for rezoning that would allow it to operate an Islamic place of worship in a vacant office building it had contracted to purchase. The complaint alleges that the city imposed parking standards and other zoning criteria that were not supported under its zoning ordinance and that it had never imposed on non-Muslim places of worship."

I don't see a problem with a town zoning board denying permits for any BIG religious center. Annoying and creates traffic problems.

This is my problem with the justice dept. when they have the daily briefing in the morning does lynch go in and say, how,is,our investigation on cyber theft going? How,is,the IRS investigation coming. How is our investigation of hedge funds on Wall Street going. Are we enforcing the gun laws that are already on the books? How are our solar power and welfare fraud cases going? How much money are we recovering for taxpayers. Are our immigration actions in line with the laws. Do we support the new sentencing guidelines congress is about to pass? Do we have to,figure out whether or not to indict Hilary before the election process gets too far along for,the country's sake? Blah blah blah

This is,why Obama is so incompetent. He does not prioritize according to,what does the most good for,the greatest number of people. If,religious,freedom is a top priority so should freedom of speech, therefore the IRS use of govt agencies to suppress free speech should,be zealously prosecuted, Obama said as much. When his doj does not make,this a top priority it lends itself,to,accusations of partisanship. When your rep is continually compromised you lose all integrity.

So with limited resources don't you have bigger fish to fry than whether a mosque goes on this block or that block?
