Recognising that there is no military solution to the challenges Afghanistan faces, the Allies decided on 14 April 2021 to start the withdrawal of RSM forces by 1 May. The drawdown of all US and RSM forces will be orderly, coordinated and deliberate, and is due to be completed within a few months. Any Taliban attacks on Allied troops during this withdrawal will be met with a forceful response.

We never learn from the past. Politicians never took history I guess. Or more likely they like that military money and associated issues filling their campaign coffers.

P.S. We also really have no clue how much we wasted in Afghanistan.

Turkey will secure the Afghan capital's airport after American troops withdraw, in an agreement designed to help the US, Britain and others to keep their embassies open.
Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey's president, told Joe Biden that his nation would take a lead role to safeguard the air link out of an increasingly beleaguered Kabul.
Contingency plans to continue the safety of the airport had become a priority for diplomats working out how to operate after US troops leave by September.
Officials had said there was little prospect of them running embassies if they could not guarantee the safe evacuation of staff, or if there was any prospect of the airport falling into Taliban hands. Australia has already closed its embassy in the city after saying it could not guarantee the safety of staff.

The left could have told the right-wing that before we wasted all that money and created more refugees for the right-wing to whine about.

Oddly they forgot to tell Obama this same thing about Syria.

The only “point” that can be made with Muslim savages is beating them over the head with a stick. It’s the only language they understand.

We did that, time to move on. If they didn’t get the message and they form terror groups that attack us again, then we nuke them.

Afghanistan (Nor Iraq, nor Syria, nor Yemen) ever attacked us.

You were being lied to. This is the war machinery's go to excuse. We condemned Saddam killing "his own people" and then we went in and killed the very same people.

We even armed people in Syria that then turned and used those arms against us to run us out.

They were. And they fled to Pakistan and we staying in Afghanistan for decades. That makes sense to you?

If a group say in Oregon trains people to pull off a terrorists attack do we send the military in to Oregon and destroy it?

We armed the other side so they could do it themselves. The US going in should have required better planning.

Or, use the military for its intended purpose; and that’s to kill and destroy. If that’s not the mission, then we should our noses out of other people’s business.

We have no idea who is who over there. There is no planning obviously. 20 years in Afghanistan. We have no clue.

I agree that we should have tried harder politically than mediocrely, militarily.

To what end? You want Afghanistan to be the 51st state?

The political End would be to prevent and obviate any perceived need for the military use of force.

But when the siege and bombardment of cities like Aleppo placed the violence on the genocidal scale of atrocities set by Rwanda and Srebrenica, inaction by the US and its allies mocked the international community's vows of "never again".

Impossible. The military needs fed.

Your answer is the same one I addressed earlier. We have to kill those we condemn being killed.
