Pardon my ignorance, but what can ID's and ISPs reveal that looks not right or like spam? I'm not questioning anyone's judgment, I'm really just curious about how this stuff works. Do IP addresses factor in any way?

The verification method has been changed to an automatic one. If you look at the block on the right of the main menu of the board where it says "Members today" or something like that, look through the IDs and I bet you can pick out a few OBVIOUS spammers.

IPs/ISPs don't factor that much.

I wondered if the name I chose was an ex-member that was banned or something...at least that's the only reason I could think of for not being up to snuff. Besides that five minutes of paranoia thinking that my ip was on some kind of watch list.
