The right wing bogeyman ACORN tries to make sure the poor and the minorities have a voice in America. This is a good thing, as the conservative nanny state for the wealthy has changed the country for the worse ever since Reagan began the war on the middle class working American. Of course it is controversial to the wingnuts, they worship greed and money. Regular people and their right to a fair and level playing field need a voice too. For too long only the rich have had power and you see clearly today the effect that has had.

The Truth About ACORN's Voter Registration Drive

by Bertha Lewis and Steve Kest

Election Day is less than a month away, and our efforts to make sure that low-income and minority voters have a voice and vote on November 4th are in full swing. Unfortunately, just as we've seen in previous election cycles, the more success we have in empowering these voters, the more attacks we have to fend off from partisan forces making unfounded accusations to disparage our work and help maintain the status quo of an unbalanced electorate. We want to take this opportunity to separate the facts of our successes from the falsehoods of our attackers."

"Fact: ACORN has implemented the most sophisticated quality-control system in the voter engagement field, but in almost every state we are required to turn in ALL completed applications, even the ones we know to be problematic."

Uh, what about the stories of people getting paid to register to vote 100 times? What the stories of dead people being registered to vote?

Acorn is nothing but a voter fraud machine which does the dirty work of stealing elections. It's been busted in state after state after state. Particularly those states which are important swing states....Ohio, Florida, and the like.

Moron. 8 people on trial, some of whom have already plead guilty. Tens of thousands of dollars in settlement money paid by Acorn.

Acorn doesn't deny it, why do you?

Fact: LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada authorities seized records Tuesday from a group they accused of submitting fraudulent voter-registration forms — including for the starting lineup of the Dallas Cowboys.

"Tony Romo is not registered to vote in the state of Nevada, and anybody trying to pose as Terrell Owens won't be able to cast a ballot on Nov. 4," said Secretary of State Ross Miller, referring to star players on the pro football team.

The Associated Press: ACORN office in Vegas raided in voter-fraud probe

Fact: HARTFORD -- The State Elections Enforcement Commission has opened an investigation into allegations that a community activist organization submitted at least 10 false voter-registration cards in Bridgeport.

One of the phony registrations was for a 7-year-old girl in the Marina Village housing complex, whose age was listed as 27 on the voter card.

Another registration came from a man who later said he couldn't have completed the voter card purported to be his because he was in jail on the date of the document.

Joseph J. Borges, the city's Republican registrar of voters, filed the complaint with state officials after months of local complaints on the tactics that ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, was regularly filing applications that were ruled ineligible.

Fact: ACORN, which said it registered about 1.3 million voters nationwide this year, is facing similar allegations in several other states. The group has encountered complaints of fraud stemming from registration efforts in Wisconsin, North Carolina, New Mexico, Michigan, Ohio and Missouri.

Fact: KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Officials in Missouri, a hard-fought jewel in the presidential race, are sifting through possibly hundreds of questionable or duplicate voter-registration forms submitted by an advocacy group that has been accused of election fraud in other states.

Charlene Davis, co-director of the election board in Jackson County, where Kansas City is, said the fraudulent registration forms came from the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN. She said they were bogging down work Wednesday, the final day Missourians could register to vote.

The Associated Press: Missouri officials suspect fake voter registration

FACT: CROWN POINT, Indiana (CNN) -- More than 2,000 voter registration forms filed in northern Indiana's Lake County by a liberal activist group this week have turned out to be bogus, election officials said Thursday.

The group -- the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN -- already faces allegations of filing fraudulent voter registrations in Nevada and faces investigations in other states.

That's your evidence? A statement by ACORN itself? Don't make me laugh. Everything in Navy's post is spot on. If they're so clean as a whistle why are they being so heavily investigated?
