Hey guys- just seeing how much interest there is for people who get bad reflux/pain from coffee or pizza/pasta etc.? if a lot of interest I can get into more detail on something I use to help it.

I get heartburn a lot, but weirdly enough, not from spicy foods. Coffee messes my whole digestive system up, but I still drink it constantly. Cranberry juice, orange juice and grapefruit juice are all pretty much guaranteed to give me heartburn as well.

I usually just take a Tums, it works most of the time.

Those gives me the shits.

I take prescription omeprazol daily, and that takes care of any acid reflux.

My mother takes that, it seems to work well for her.

I hate taking prescriptions, though.
I took a couple other things for acid reflux over the years, then they started me on omeprazol and that works like a charm, and there are no known side effects. Been taking it for 10 years probably and I haven't had a bit of acid reflux.

Also called prilosec.
No, Prilosec is a manufacturers name for an over the counter, non prescription strength version of omeprazol.
Nope. You are half correct. Omeprazol standard milligrams is 20. You can get that as a prescription and the poor can get it free with Medicaid. We'll talk about why medicaid is broke later. However, with the prescription you can get 40 mg 60 mg and 80 mg. Anotherwords instead of taking 2,3 or 4 prilosecs you are taking 1 pill. Omeprazol is the generic name for prilosec.

Wrong again. As I already said, Prilosec is a marketing name for omeprazol, which is the active ingredient.

Dude im looking at the prescription right now. Underneith Omeprazol it says prilosec. Go ask your pharmasist and come back and apologize. I hate being a genius about everything. Fucking irritating. Id make a good adult sex aa sponser, though. :)

I've been on two Nexium for a few years. Trying to get down to one, then none. I have a sliding hiatal hernia, had a peptic ulcer (better now) and gastristis (off and on). I don't drink coffee anymore; cant eat spicy food or chocolate. But I do drink several english toffee capachinos from Tim Horton's and I use a product that helps a ton. I was actually going to be a distributer for this company, for the owner. This product PREVENTS the heartburn in the first place when drinking coffee or eating spicy foods.

Yes. Nexium is completely different category than prilosec. It does what you say. Its also more expensive. Btw.. you arent supposed to be on it long term like that. 3-4 months tops. Then it can do more harm than good. Theres a better one than nexium im trying to think of the name.

OK... I guess some just have to be educated the old fashioned way, with pictures, because they're too stupid to learn from reading.... now you see at the bottom of that screen capture... where it says *BRAND NAME*? Prilosec is a *BRAND NAME*, it is NOT the *DRUG*, as I've been saying all along. Now has that gotten through your thick skull... DUDE?

FDA Warns of Fracture Risk From Acid Reflux Drugs

definite calcium and magnesium mal absorption. Take planty of magnesium and calcium supplements daily. Many other side effects if interested. I am a somewhat "expert" on this topic. Been dealing with it for years. Tons of different meds, scripts, dr. visits and a few surgeries. Lots and lots of reading too. I knew stuff a well known and well respected specialist did not know (serious).
