Officials said the increase was driven by the lethal prevalence of fentanyl as well as pandemic-related stressors and problems in accessing care.

"This is the highest number of overdose deaths ever recorded in a 12-month period, and the largest increase since at least 1999," Dr. Nora Volkow, director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, told NPR.

Whites led in 90 percent of the crime categories listed in the Uniform Crime Reports. There was a total of 6,578 murders in all races in 2019. There were over 11,588 arrests for rapes by whites in 2019 alone. Blacks had less than half that with 4,427. In 2019 according to the FBI Uniform Crime Reports, 3,299 whites were murdered. 2,906 blacks were murdered. Approximately 80 percent of all whites who were killed were killed by another white person. More whites were killed than blacks. As in 2018, more whites killed each other (2594) than blacks who killed each other (2574). In 2019 again, whites were 5 times more likely to be killed by another white than by anyone else. Whether male or female whites led in murder. “What about white on white crime?”
