A Guarranteed Solution to World Overpopulation

Have a lottery where you get a thousand dollars just for playing, but if you play you have to take a pill that could be fatally poisoned (1 chance in a thousand it is). Everyone can play as many times as they like.

Then people could voluntarily elect themselves for possible removal to reduce the population and make money too.

Win-win for everyone!

It reeks of stupid. First of all, how many people are going to join this stupid lottery?

Second of all, why not tell religious extremists to STFU and get birth control to everyone that wants it? I guarantee population growth will shrink much faster this way.

 

Since there is no overpopulation, it is a moot point.

No one is taking anyones life except for them when they take the pill that could be poisoned.

You would apparently be surprised. Look at how many people do dangerous things with a similar survival rate; from base jumping (1 in 163) to smoking cigs (1 in 7) to driving to the store (1 in 98) you risk your life every day, and for what? A quick sense of pleasure? A gallon of milk? Then why not for a thousand bucks?
