It is California. When was the last time you saw good law come out of California?A Democratic lawmaker has introduced a bill he calls "groundbreaking" that would require all new cars sold in California to be equipped with a device preventing them from traveling more than 10 mph over the speed limit.
Nah, democrats don't want to control your life.

My guess is California would spend $150 million to have signs emit a signal that a chip in the car could recognize. How does your car know what the speed limit is?
Wouldn't put it past CA to check them every few years like they have with smog checks.Like there wouldn't be a black market to disable those systems.
$150M just wouldn't cut it. They have like 400K miles of roadway and the speed limit isn't always the same on both sides of the road and in some areas, the speed limit depends on the time of day. I am thinking they would need at least $1.5BMy guess is California would spend $150 million to have signs emit a signal that a chip in the car could recognize.
As crazy as Jesse Ventura was, at least as Governor of MN he eliminated that crap. It hurt the poor who had older cars.Wouldn't put it past CA to check them every few years like they have with smog checks.
You could probably just put tape over the camera. Tesla is having a devil of a time trying to get its sign recognition technology to work on their self-driving cars ( that are apparently fond of breaking the speed limit).Like there wouldn't be a black market to disable those systems.
I have no doubt the only reason they are doing it is because Europe is starting to implement those type systems.Control freak Dems gonna control freak.
Sounds good to me - what's the issue?A Democratic lawmaker has introduced a bill he calls "groundbreaking" that would require all new cars sold in California to be equipped with a device preventing them from traveling more than 10 mph over the speed limit.

Towers would signal it to your car's computers. How does your car know what the speed limit is?
Not how it works. The systems Europe are toying with use either GPS positioning to set the speed limits or optical sign recognition technology which is very flawed because those have trouble distinguishing among sign types with any numbers on themTowers would signal it to your car's computers.
Different methods could be employed, but an absolutely great idea. Not how it works. The new ones know because of GPSHow does your car know what the speed limit is?
Not surprising you support this. You seem to love government intervention in the private sector and personal lives.Different methods could be employed, but an absolutely great idea.
Except for those who support crime, recklessness, injury and death.
Imagine how great this would be in school zones and such.
