The ocean is ok however, I love my snow, my low humidity 80-85 degree summers, if I want I can drive four hours to see the ocean, I go about every three or four years not that excited about it. I’m 30 minutes away from skiing, great friendly and caring people of our great city, a short commute, great minor league sports teams, lots of animals in the area. Last year a moose came right up to the window at work. if I wanted rain and traffic, I’d live on the west side. A day’s ride to Yellowstone, I love that park, we go almost every year. We have a nice theme park nearby, that is cool. Broadway plays, theatre, several major colleges nearby, no traffic, I have it all here, why would I want to live in an area that lives on stress.

Sounds good but being close the beach is a huge plus.
I live few blocks from the most famous beach in LA county to the right Malibu, to the left Venice beach...downtown LA 30 mins., universal studios 30 mins, Disney 45 mins, ski slopes 1h30, 15 mins to the 2nd busiest airport in the US to cat h flights and explore the world, tons of Marinas for boating, 3 hours to Mexico, year around sunshine, Lakers arena 25 mins, Dodgers stadium 45 mins.
As a little boy overseas we all knew that California is the best state. All I know about Idaho is potatoes and lot of conservatives which translates we minorities are not welcomed that much and there isnt much to do there or prosper like in blue states.

California is a shithole. I’d take Idaho any day over Cally.

On March 11, 2017, to many viewers’ surprise, the nightly news program on government-run NRK television ran an honest segment on the dramatic rise in crime in East Oslo, with a focus principally on Groruddalen—where, as journalist Anders Magnus reported, about 50 percent of the population now had non-Western immigrant backgrounds. Twelve-year-olds were selling drugs; 15-year-olds were carrying guns, knives, and baseball bats; Muslim youth gangs were assaulting adults in the open street; and Muslim parents, with few exceptions, were showing utter indifference to the activities of their criminal sons. Meanwhile, in accordance with long-standing Norwegian tradition, police continued to patrol unarmed. Magnus interviewed a hockey coach who said that some of his team members had quit because they were scared of getting beaten up on the way to practice. One young local said that Muslims in the valley had formed a “parallel society,” one in which the kids simply weren’t afraid of the police. True to form, Aftenposten ran an angry rebuttal to Magnus’s segment: Øystein E. Søreide and Mobashar Banaras, two leading Groruddalen politicians, accused NRK of “stigmatizing” people in the valley and of increasing divisions between “us” and “them.”

Police efforts to get Groruddalen under control in recent years have been a bust. One problem is the difficulty of getting official permission for police to carry firearms—a policy change furiously opposed by Norwegian politicians and journalists.

I disagree, I don’t own a gun, never have been inclined to, however I support the right for a person to chose to have a gun or not, just as I have chosen.

This is hard for me, because most of the people I know are gun owners, although they are quiet about it. Hunting, or a shotgun in the closet for those nasty moments like a rabid raccoon in the yard or to wave around if a druggie tries stealing your truck out of the driveway. I don't worry a bit about them owning a gun. But the majority of them, except for hunting, have never shot at anything and therefore don't need a gun at all. I think it would be a better and safer country if people just accepted that guns are, in the vast majority of cases, "overkill." Pardon my pun.

Police carry sidearms at all times while on duty for the twenty to thirty years of their career and most of them will tell you they've never had to pull it or fire at a suspect their entire career. Most of those who have will say they only had to do so two or three times. Most of them will also say they hope to never have to draw their weapon.
The same goes for civilian gun owners. I have a handgun myself and I hope like hell I never have to point it at someone and most legal and responsible gun owners will say the same.

The point is, a firearm may or may not be overkill sitting in the gun case but it most definitely is not overkill when you need it to protect your family.
