NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Itemize your tax deductions? Itching for a refund? You're going to have to wait.

The IRS said that it needs until mid- to late-February to reprogram its processing systems because Congress acted so late this year cleaning up the tax code. The bill, which includes deductions for state and local sales taxes, college tuition and teacher expenses, wasn't signed into law until Dec. 17.

I'm not sure I would call it an unintended consequence. Considering that many people get refunds instead, this is one more way for the Feds to borrow the money for a longer time at zero interest, although it's unlikely they had the foresight to realize this. The more likely explanation is that they just don't give a fuck about the little people. Note that the April 15th deadline has not been extended due to this delay.

Yeah your right the republicans did this on purpose to fuck the American little guy

TM is one of the stupidest people on the internets.

I read this too this morning. I'm always good about filing mine within the first week of February because I get my W2 on 1/31 every year. I guess I'll have to wait this year.

So much for the Party of No.

Eh?

Wonder if Republicans are going to shut down government again.

If I recall correctly, the dems had a supra majority for several months. not only did they not do a budget for 2011 they didn't do squat vis a vis the tax code....hummm, then they waited till they got trashed at the polls then decided it was time to go to work..........they aren't the party of no, they are the party of incompetence.

Hey you partisan hack , who is it that held up ALL congressional business the last couple of years, you know ......the guys who even voted against their own bills to keep the peoples business from getting done.

Any delay rests on the shoulders of the NO party

You math and logic challenged blithering boob of babble.

The Dems have had a super-majority for the past two years. They shoved ObamaCare through against the will of the public. Given the vast support for extending the tax rates, if they had wanted to, they could have easily passed the extension long before we were up against the end of the year.

No one's (ever) accused John Boner of foresight (of any kind), anyhow.

The Dems only has a supra majority on paper. In reality there's is a coalition of factions that do not vote in lockstep at their leaders b.eheast Unlike the party across the isle whose uniforimty of purposes is devisive.

In reality the Democrat never had more than 58 seats in the Senate. To hold a supermajority you'd need at least 60.

Your splitting hairs, Blind Boo, the two independents are liberals, one of which is a socialist, but neither are conservatives.
