When we are talking about the safety net, since I am for a strong safety net, then the Right would likely be my "opposing side". But when it comes to abortion, then the Left would likely be my "opposing side". And then it comes to the death penalty, I suppose that a number of people on both the Left and the Right would be my "opposing side". Many people are far too limited in their thinking in this one-size-fits-all society when it comes to political labels. Very few people are a pure "anything". Therefore, a pure "opposing side" is almost impossible to define. Too much red and blue simplistic thinking has descended into our discourse. Ilar's OP is therefore a little bit flawed.

I think this thread would be better served by listing some individual members whom I think exemplify some characteristics that I like.

Crusader Frank is as hard-right as it gets. With him, you really cannot turn harder right without doing a U-eey. I like CrusaderFrank because he is consistent. And not one single time, after 14 months of constant debate, has Frank ever attacked my person. That separates him from you by a mile. He's not a dick like you are, rustballz. He fights for the ideas in which he believes. That makes him a far better member than you, any day of the week, in spite of the fact that on most things, he and I will STRONGLY disagree. If there is one single Rightie here whom I trust to actually completely read and think about a thought or idea of mine before responding, then I would pick Frank. Ok I'll give it a shot. As an Independent Conservative I above all else value the determination of the individual to choose his or her life. The best that a government can do is stay the hell out of his or her way and focus on security, controlling debt and infra-structure.
