Montana violated a provision in the state constitution guaranteeing citizens a “clean and healthful environment” by declining to consider the climate impacts of fossil fuel projects, a judge ruled Monday in a landmark lawsuit brought by youth climate activists.

“Montana’s (greenhouse gas) emissions and climate change have been proven to be a substantial factor in causing climate impacts to Montana’s environment and harm and injury to the youth plaintiffs,” Lewis and Clark County District Court Judge Kathy Seeley wrote in her ruling.

Well done Montana.

This victory is likely to release a raft of similar cases across the country. Its a welcome response to the rossil fuel sponsored climate denial that blights any disccussion of the issue.

It would be good to see the oil company bosses and their lackeys up on charges as well. they have caused so much damage.

Things are looking up but its so important that a bonehead republican does not win next year.

How can you sue someone for ignoring something that no one can even conclusively prove exists?! Further, how can you show any difference between ignoring and not ignoring it when no one can show any conclusive RESULTS from doing either?

Show me the difference between what Biden has graphically accomplished in improving the climate over what Montana has failed to do? You cannot.
