You're Welcome World

But too few will recognize...

Oh we see it, just dont give a shit. I am sick of payin for it, and so are most people.

Great, we have cultivated a global empire rich with profits for our owners. Big deal. Ill get excited when they stop robbing me to pay for it.

The US has done much good worldwide in the name of democracy and good will. It's corperations, and the government minions that they buy, have also done much evil in the name of profits.

Some people are masters at gaming systems to achieve power.

That is going to be a real propblem in every society regardless of what kind of society is formed, what kind of economic system is used, and what the laws of the land say about power, too.

Our society right now appears to have given so much power to CAPITAL, and that inappropriate and unequal power structure is perverting this society from what it once was into something wholly unwelcome for MOST citizens.

A big part of the problem is, I think, thanks to the rulings of the SCOTUS regarding the rights of corporations.

On that issue I agree with our fellow OWS citzens 100%.

Many corporations know that the US is becoming more business unfriendly. That's why they are moving out of the country. While unemployment lowers in China and India, it rises here. The OWS (bowel) movement doesn't have to be the most popular, just the most violent and/or disruptive.

The protesters against capitalisim really believe that they can damage or completely stop corporate enterprise. They can't. They can only stop it here. The company will still go merrily along someplace else. The left threatens a general strike without even bothering to wonder what a strike by employers would do. Much of the pain we're experiencing now is a sort of strike by employers who are hesitant or refuse to hire until obama is gone and the country ceases its hostlity to employers. It can get much worse and no doubt will. There is such a thing as the consequences of actions.

no, big businesss wants a free tade agreement with Asia. They want a place to expand product placement and sales. To reach billions with new prducts. Consumers here in the USA are paying bills or saving their monies. Bad for huge corps. They (corps)will never die or give in, not enough external pressure. These people on protests are at least doing it within their right to protest something they feel left out of.

Bombings, beheadings? Stats show a peaceful world - BostonHerald.com

Things have gotten much better since around the mid 40s...hmm...what has been going on in the world during that time?...which country has expended great effort, treasure, and the blood of heroes for the sake of stability, prosperity, and freedom?...hmm...
So the world is more peaceful and prosperous than during the Second World War?
Wow.
How many civilians has the US military killed since that time?
How much profit has Wall Street earned from the mass murder?
Should North Koreans, Vietnamese, and Iraqis thank Goldman Sachs for their misery?

Read the link, genius.
What's your definition of terrorism?

"'Terrorism doesn’t account for many deaths. Sept. 11 was just off the scale. There was never a terrorist attack before or after that had as many deaths. What it does is generate fear, he said."

He needs to get out more:

"These results provide strong evidence that the Gulf war and trade sanctions caused a threefold increase in mortality among Iraqi children under five years of age. We estimate that an excess of more than 46,900 children died between January and August 1991. (N Engl J Med 1992;327:931–6.)"

MMS: Error

How much thanks do the Iraqis owe for all the stability, prosperity and freedom they've been given?

That is NOT terrorism, and in any case was entirely on saddam's head.

Terrorism is killing or threatening to kill civilians for political or ideological reasons.

How many civilians has the US military killed since 1945?
How many has the US threatened?

Since the US invasion in 2003 millions of Iraqis have become dead, maimed, incarcerated or displaced, and you think the survivors should say thanks for the war crimes?

Which was not the purpose of sanctions against saddam's regime. All deaths that resulted are entirely on his head. There was even a provision for allowing exceptions to the sanctions specifically to aid Iraqi civilians, remember? This was, of course, abused by saddam and several of our European 'allies' resulting in his enrichment and the further suffering of the Iraqi people. If you have any sense of history you will know that the lengths to which the US went during the Iraq War to minimize civilian casualties are remarkably rare.

How does bombing water treatment plants in Baghdad evict Iraqi conscripts from Kuwait?

46,000 Iraqi children died primarily from drinking contaminated water that was a direct consequence of US for-profit bombs falling on water purification facilities.

All on saddam's head and no one else's. If you have naive and juvenile ideas about war that is your failing.
