Many states divert motor fuel taxes intended for transportation infrastructure to other uses.

"When gas tax revenue is treated as an undedicated stream of governmental revenue, roads suffer, and tax dollars may be wasted on ineffective or irrelevant programs."

My takeaway is more cynical. Why should the states provide blue collar workers with jobs when they can employ more college educated paper shufflers.

More people need to know about this.
It was a big scandal in Wisconsin a few years ago. Our roads were going to hell while unrelated pet projects of the governor were funded by the gas taxes. The Democrat governor wanted to help fund a light rail project with highway money. It cost him the election and the new Republican governor cancelled the project.

Not just this.....

Local AND State governments and their fees, taxes in general and especially property taxes are doing severe harm to millions of Americans especially the elderly. Local government Property Appraisers offices and the Commissioners and legislators who empower them are literally modern day robber Barons.

Trump needs to address this nationally significant issue before millions more are made homeless and indigent just because local and state governments want more to pay pensions for their vastly overpaid employees (unfair to free market and private enterprise) and pay for pet projects and or welfare for those who shouldn't be getting it in the first place.

That's the OTHER big thing nobody's talking about. Corporations with limitless capital are competing with single families for homes and the local governments are making more than twice the both of them combined and laughing all the way to the bank.
For not providing much.
It's legal robbery that's killing The American Dream.
I'd say taxes are about 400% higher than what they should be in many, many places.
THAT's why the cost of rent is high.
I can give examples.

The fuel tax thing and the W.Bush diesel price increase thing hurt Americans pretty bad, too.
For around 90 years in America, diesel was around 60% of the price of gasoline, until W. Bush.
Everything moves on diesel, it should be as cheap as possible.

That can be fixed with new zoning laws. A house held for income purposes is commercial property and subject to zoning restrictions. Under new restrictions these investors would have to sell these houses to private buyers which would become owner residences.

When we told them about it, the average dimocrap response went like this --

That was because of the filthiest department in any government anywhere in the world, our very own EPA. Communists, all of them.

Back then it was political suicide to object to anything those criminal scum wanted to do......

Which was to remove most of the sulfur from diesel fuel. So, they did. And diesel became much more expensive to refine. Now, we have to put additives in our fuel to keep the fuel pumps from exploding.

The United States started phasing in ULSD requirements for highway vehicles in 2006, with implementation for off-highway applications, such as locomotive and marine fuel, beginning in 2007.....

The process used to reduce the sulfur also reduces the fuel's lubricating properties.

The EPA is the most worthless agency in government. Total piece of shit. Controlled by hard-core communists that have a hard-on for anything Capitalist or American.

Kalifornication can thank the EPA for a LOT of the problems it is having right now. word

That was Bush's EPA. A lot of people had just bought diesel trucks, too.
I remember, that was bad, nobody ever said it at the time, either.
Well, people did. Not the media or Bush though.

WA is doing it now.

Illegal migrant housing, food, travel, school, jails and medications ain't cheap. Add in CA half to million dollar pensions to GOVT employees and you begin to run low on funds.

WA is doing it now.
Doesn't seem too popular.

The proposal here was to connect Madison to Milwaukee with a light rail line. However, they are already nicely connected by I-94. The line would run through several small cities on the route and would have been mainly to facilitate shopping in Madison and the greater Milwaukee area.

Elected officials in a democratic republic have a tough job

They are surrounded on all sides by greedy interest groups demanding money for their cause

The biggest problem with the EPA, and they have many, is that they operate as an autonomous agency. They constantly and continuously defy Republican Presidents, they are un-elected, unaccountable and completely uncaring about what the American People want. They just don't care.

Yes, it is a cabinet level position but the directives of the Head of the EPA are routinely ignored by the rank and file.

If the Director gives them an order, the communists inside the Agency leak it to the DISGUSTING FILTH, they ramp up 'resistance' then they get one of the many communist environMENTAL groups to file suit. They have several Hack-In-Black radical leftist Judges that will approve an out-of-Court settlement made by the rank and file lawyers of the EPA. And that is how stupid EPA 'laws' are made. Court-Made law is the worst kind.

It's a giant scam and I am not qualified to explain it thoroughly. Anybody that doubts it can look it up. They will se that I am essentially correct.

The EPA is despicable

You realize that would likely be an ex post facto law and be illegal and unconstitutional.

As a private, licensed, CA appraiser, I can tell you that government property appraisers do not use accepted appraisal practice as outlined by the USPAP.
Ad Valorem only means according to value it does not outline how that value should be determined.

1 to 4 unit income properties are not appraised as commercial properties according to USPAP.
