Actually, the progressive movement started around the 1770's, and progressed until the 1980's.

Progressive means that you want to move this country forward and see where it can go.

Liberal means that you are willing to let this country move forward via whatever path is available.

Conservative means that you are only willing to let this country move forward if it hangs back in the 1950's, because most conservatives think that is when this country was at it's best. And they're right, because back in the 50's and 60's, this country was at it's best because we had a strong middle class that was held up by unions and a Congress that believed in doing what was best for this country, even if it meant reaching across the aisle and compromising with those they disagreed with.

Please. Labels are a rhetorical crutch used by those not bright enough to make an argument. I've been called an "Obamadrone" (without even posting anything on O'bama), a "baby killer" (without posting anything on abortion), a disciple of Saul Bullinsky (a guy I never heard of), a "Khmer Rouge", a "fascist", a "Nazi", and just this week, a "girl". Oh, and a "Progressive", even shown a pic of Nazis shooting people into mass graves and told I'm one of them.
