The Trouble With Multivitamins - LewRockwell LewRockwell.com

I am not related to the author in any way...just trying to help out all my wonderful friends at USMB...even including Jake, Silly Jilly, Lil' Joey, Mattyboy, and Leftnutter.

This is an advertisement for a very expensive multi-vitamin.

Show me a study where people who live long lives can attribute any of it to having taken vitamins. I doubt that such a study exists, because it simply isn't the case.

My own blood tests reveal a couple deficiencies, and I inject B12 and take Vitamin D orally, which resolves the issues.

In my personal experience, vitamins and supplements are used by people who don't take very good care of themselves, in order to give them a false sense of security about their health. But then, maybe I'm wrong. This article doesn't convince me (and it is not well-written).

BS.

You have been advised to take good care of your health, and your response is **** off.

Is it any wonder so many Americans are unhealthy?

Multi-vitamins (vihtamens according to our Brit cousins) have a role, but daily exercise, weight control, and right eating are more important.

I don't buy processed foods, I only make meals from raw stock...

Wrong again Jake....damn I thought maybe this one time you would get it right.

They ALL are very important, but you will not get the proper nutrients in your diet no matter how healthy you eat. You must take supplements to get the proper nutrients.

Most vitamin supplements are not able to make it past the acids in the stomach, which makes them useless...

Read Bill Sardi and you might understand.

As he stated in the article I posted, which you clearly did not read, you are correct somewhat. However, this is only correct for most of the cheap multivitamins Americans generally buy. Buy high quality vitamins and you will get the nutrients you need...and will get past the acids and into your system.

That is not what I said, once again demonstrating you can't parse basic communication. Multi-vitamins have a place, but exercise, weight control, and good eating are more important. Vitamin supplements do not take their place in the slightest.

Make sure, though, that you exercise, eat right, and control you weight.

I agree with Moonglow, at least what I believe he(?) is saying.
The American food industry is perfectly designed to make the public overeat, and therefore buy more product they sell.
The secret to better health and feeling better is a balanced, nutritious diet. But it is not easy.
Produce is criminally high priced in America. You can literally buy an entire meal for four in processed crap food and "feed" the whole family CHEAPER than the cost of just the side veggies nevermind the entree.

You can do all that, but still die of cancer or heart disease and it just might be because you were lacking many essential nutrients.

They are NOT more important. They are all important, but without proper nutrients that are only available via vitamins and supplements, you will not be healthy.

Or you got too much sun? Quit quarreling. You know I am right that you certainly need exercise, weight control, and eating right.

You will be healthier if the point. Vitamins without three other factors mean nothing.
