You mean we have to actually work?

Raising the tax rate of the ultra wealthy a few points isnt going to change anything. Most of that would be soaked up by other new spending
Leftists are counting on the useful idiots not to know this. It’s like when Bernie Sanders said he would raise taxes a few percentage points on everyone earning $1 million a year in order to give a free college education to everyone.

It wouldn’t even come close.

Bernie's math is weak

So is that antisemitic Communist running for NY mayor. Setting aside the fact that he can’t raise taxes on anyone, taxing the “rich white neighborhoods” would not be enough to give away all the freebies he’s talking about to millions of NYers.

I think he's an experiment. Seriously

You really have to feel sorry for a number of the people responding to this. First off is it is racist. No one but that fool saw race. Second is just take a little more from the rich. I guess they do not understand that we have spent ourselves into a giant debt. Guess they do not understand that we have spent trillions on the poor and people are still poor. Guess they do not understand that congress is the ones that set the tax codes and they are not going to vote to pay more in taxes nor are they going to make the donors that fund their campaigns pay more because that would mean less funds for them.
I get it everyone wants everyone to have everything. Unfortunately that is not reality. We will always have poor people. Some because they do not wish to spend the time or energy to become more then poor. Some because of mental illness or addiction. Some through no fault of their own but then become used to being poor. We even have those that were born into poverty and see it as normal.
While I see no reason that an able bodied person should at least do something to contribute I also feel that those that are unable to contribute should not be forced to.

Has nothing to do with getting rid of capitalism.
But why set the playing field to favor the capitalists while the working class struggles to just get by.
Used to be a worker with basic skills could buy a home, have free healthcare, send his kids to college without going into debt.

We need to make Capitalists contribute more to the society they benefit from
Those were the days before mass immigration. Truly low or no skilled workers were kids just entering the job market. Mass immigration gave us adults looking at unskilled labor as a career. The pot to spread around got smaller.

Ever do the math? Taking a couple of percentage points from the rich won’t come CLOSE to enabling everyone to get what the hard-working middle class gets.
Neither will starving poor people.
The budget Republicans just rammed through takes away from the poor and gives to the wealthy

Wage increases across the board would be a great thing right now.

More blame the poor people.
The reason working families are struggling is not because migrants come over to harvest crops, mow lawns or carry bricks.

They struggle because corporate America is making record profits and paying record low taxes.
They struggle because their jobs have stagnant salaries, no job security and minimal benefits.

Americans used to harvest crops, mow lawns and carry bricks. Now a non American wants $38.00 an hour to make burgers.

Pay 7.25 per hour and nobody will show up. Rightfully so.

Wealth is overrated. Having said that there's no question that we have a serious wealth imbalance here in this country. It's probably the price you pay for capitalism. Not sure if it can actually be adjusted.... I'm thinking no.

So do we get rid of capitalism? Probably don't want to do that either because it is the single most productive system in the history of mankind. I guess all we can hope for is that someday it will be so successful that it will turn on itself and produce something that everyone can benefit from on a more equal basis.
Having grown up poor and now being moderately well off I would have to disagree.

Being poor sucks.

A lot.

Lisa, you are buying into racist stereotypes.

No one is buying Steak and Lobster on food stamps.

The average SNAP Benefit in Illinois is $192.00 a month.

Steak costs 19.00 a lb.
Lobster costs $35-55 a lb.

They aren't going to buy a lot of that on $192 a month.

Of course, I've been hearing the "Poor people on food stamps buying Lobster" bullshit since the 1970's.

So this is nothing new.

Need more numbers. AVG can bs misleading. Whay os the median number? Per person? Singles mixed in with families of 8 with single mothers but deadbeat father also $192?

As With all you dishonest postings. Need more. Not an Act Blue fact sheet either.

Since Obiden killed energy and inflation hit. $100/wk is not going to get much meat i the bag. Broccoli potatoes banannas yes. Even Apples oranges tomatoes also nearly $1 ea out west now. Name brand chips. Bread or cereal $5. I pity the actual poor a lot. When eggs were $0.5 each at Walmart. Milk always cheap.
