You can't actually fix healthcare....

It has to do with the covenant of helping thy neighbor....
Yes, helping thy neighbor. Personally. Not saying neighbors need to be helped and then expecting someone else to help them. Like you people do.

I get you're just flinging an insult, but I understand that covenant perfectly well. What I'm asking is why health care is any different than our other needs. Why is it "sacred"? Why shouldn't we have to pay for it?

For ***** sake you partisan nitwits are tedious. I'm not MAGA. Not a Christian either. But you cling to your stereotypes. If that's all you got.
I had a prof a couple of years ago who asked everyone to make a list of human needs. You wouldn't believe the crap people put on their lists. Well, actually, you probably would believe it.

Well, he was asking "why"...I pointed out why. It has to do with the covenant of helping thy neighbor. If you don't subscribe to that covenant...that's fine. You have the right to be as self centered and a-holish as you wish to be in our nation. But stop pretending you you're driven by "christian" values when clearly you're not.
If you're so concerned about these people, then why do you pay for it?

Ahh...the “holier than thou” argument. So played; so tired.

I pay for it via my taxes.

We also used to have a fund here that you could contribute to that helped defray some costs for patients who qualified. Corporate got rid of it though. I paid into it regularly.

since my neighbors breath the same air as me, and drive on the same roads 'n stuff, when my neighbors do well, then i do well. We are all one, every single person on earth, we are all one.

Any time you decide to finance against the inevitable you will fail.

At best we can stave it off as gracefully as we can
manage....but it can never avoided.

As the body ages and deteriorates the quest to keep it working becomes more expensive and less likely...exponentially. In short there isn't enough wealth on the entire planet to keep a dying human alive...in the end it's not a money battle anymore...it's a battle against the inevitable physics of our cosmic quarters. You cannot buy around it or buy out of it.

We could escape time if we could accelerate to the speed of light.... unfortunately the equation that describes that transition indicates that there isn't enough energy in the entire observable universe to accomplish that feat.....because the requirements are virtually limitless....something akin to aging and death.
So-called "healthcare" is the greatest enemy of health on the planet.

IMHO, sooner or later the economic shit will hit the fan for gov't debt/deficits. The path we're on is unsustainable, and there's gonna be a crash and an accompanying depression and the money just isn't going to be there for Medicare/Medicaid. It's also not going to be there for other gov't programs like education, housing, etc. The federal gov't has seriously overreached itself and we're all gonna pay the price for that IMHO. And the worst part is that nobody seems to care right now and we're still digging that hole deeper.

You can't actually fix healthcare....

That's the point.

Gubmint takes in intractable problem (i.e. medical care, "poverty", drug use/abuse, discrimination, etcetera), then sets themselves up as the "solution"...Then, when the problem that will never go away doesn't go away, they use that failure as evidence that they need more money and power.

Another in a long line of self-licking ice cream cones.

As the body ages and deteriorates the quest to keep it working becomes more expensive and less likely...exponentially.
Therein lies the problem. The "quest" centers on expensive medical intervention instead of a healthy lifestyle.

And it doesn't even really rely on corruption or ill will. It's just the nature of the beast. Govt programs that work, that actually solve the problem they were created to solve, put themselves "out of business". Only those that fail persist.

Nah, in most other developed nations they have nationwide healthcare. Patient health is the first consideration; not shareholder return. There are folks over there who act just like MAGA dolts here on this topic. So far they've been laughed out of the room at every turn on this topic. That'll likely change.

I work for the healthcare system we have, BTW. So I'm guilty by association.

What is wrong for people paying for their insurance and Medicaid for those who can't? Don't people die because it takes so long to be seen in Canada, and the care is so bad they have to come to the US for treatment. Why jack everybody's taxes 25 or more percent for crap care and the government being in complete control of what care doctors provide?

So your taxes have gone up 25%? Go to bed; clearly you’re not feeling well.

No. Why it's different than food, housing, etc etc... I said "needs". Don't play your equivocation games with me. How much free shit do you want?

Of course, of course. And the dumb MAGA motherfuckers are 1000% convinced I'm a lefty. See a pattern? Idiot partisan drones with your heads up your asses. There's more to the world than your two-party pissing match.
If you do not agree with the entire platform of the democraps and the thousands of causes associated with being a leftist you are 100% MAGA, as well as a racist, a fascist, a misogynist, a transphobe, a religious zealot and many other things. Don't worry about what the left thinks about you or calls you, they are just trying to manipulate you with insults into embracing leftism. They don't matter. They are worthless and should just be ignored.

It has to do with the covenant of helping thy neighbor....nah you wouldn't understand. MAGA types are pretend Christians at best.

Oh LOOK, we have been blessed to have the Holy Spirit here among us. Who are you that you should pretend to judge another's heart?

I want to feed those who need help.
You want them to starve and gleefully think they should because they committed the ultimate sin in Conservistan...they are poor and asked for help!

I don’t pretend to be Christian.
Many on your side of the political aisle (perhaps including you), pretend to be one.

I’ll let judgment fall where it may.

That Christian card is used like the race card and all the other cards. Soon enough you may try the Islam card. They will answer you in a different way.
.

They're still afraid to try that.
