Because Americans have only two choices. When one party fails, they elected the other one in droves, which then fails and they do the very same thing as soon as they are able to. Not really defeat, just a temporary setback. The cards are all in favor of Republicans in the race for control of the Senate, this time. But in 2016, it's gong to be a very different story as the cards will favor Dems. Assuming Hillary runs, Republicans will lose the Senate, if they do get control back this year, and there is a very good chance they lose the House in 2016 also, even with all the advantages they have.
