Anyone ever study this?
I thought it very unusual for such heroes as these generals would attack their own fellow comrades, some of whom saved their life in war,

That was 1932. The vets there were demanding immediate redemption of bonuses that came due in 1945, so it's not a case of "The eevil gubmint refused to pay what they owed them."

I would agree that Hoover made a bad choice in ordering the camp cleared. He should have let winter handle it. They would have left.

They came back in 1933. FDR offered to give them CCC jobs, even if they were too old and/or married, and that settled that.
