WTF!!! America has 150,000 truckdrivers from India!

You are really over-reacting with your disgust of this person.

Why not do a thread about the morons who issued him a CDL?

It is on THEM more than him. . unless you're saying he deliberately planned that crash?

Surely not
The real problem is majority of Americans do not want to be truckers

There is a truck driver shortage in the US

Thus they use foreigners who are willing to drive

simple google search will pull up numerous stories on the same topic.

It is simple, a truck driver shortage will draw in others from another country to fill the void. Those who hire will hire them or go broke.

So as people complain about foreigners driving, the trucking industry is devising a new strategy

The first fully self-driving trucks are currently being tested in Texas, with plans to expand the study later this year.

So choose automated self driven Trucks or foreigners driving Trucks

This really shows how bad the situation is with truck driver shortages

there is a petition going around for clemency for the drivers involved in the accident

The answer is to raise salaries for truckers. Companies would be forced to do that if we banned illiterate illegals from the job. THINK
So, the government regulates wages?

Or you are confused about the corporate wage problem?

Truck drivers salaries are good considering no degree required and they generally are just driving. There are other tasks they may do.

Research before you think

The problem is long hours and away from family for most truckers especially for long hauls. yes local drivers do not deal with that. Also dealing with other drivers on the road. Yeah local drivers do not have to deal with time away from family as much.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the national median pay for heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers in 2024 was $53,560 per year, or about $25.75 per hour.

2nd thing is Truck driving is one of the most dangerous occupations.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics mentions that truck drivers are not only injured on the road but can also suffer from overexertion or injuries resulting from contact with equipment

Do your research before posting

raise wages on people who are already well paid. Thus the consumer is the one who has to know pay more.

is truck driving a dangerous job - Yahoo Search Results

Some years ago, I read where the trucking industry has a stranglehold on transporting goods. There were ideas to upgrade the trains and tracks to carry much more of the goods and then let the trucks transport from there. We had trucking carrying little in goods making long runs. I do not criticize the industry because those guys provide us with our ways of living. However, if we can do it with trains and tracks, we should upgrade there also.

Shitty hours, poor working conditions, exploitive employers, low wages…….

Take your pick.
They killed off all of the owner operator truckers... the unions helped that effort... now its all big trucking... they need to yank that trucking companies license for hiring a non english speaking driver....

To get american citizens to take the jobs.

That is a good salery for basically driving

Yet there is a shortage of drivers. Why

Because it is dangerous and away from home time is significant

America is experiencing a nationwide shortage of truckers, prompting the logistics industry to place more emphasis on employee retention satisfaction as the driver shortfall threatens to upend the nation's supply chains.

53K is what?

Not enough income to buy house.

Or rent an apartment in a good neighborhood.

Your assuming that it the only salary in the family. It is just the wages for one person

Your assuming as you do not know if the driver is married

Your assuming what state they are in

Mississippi, Kansas, Alabama, Kansas are the cheapest states to live in

If you live in California then usually the wages are higher to survive in Cali.

Your assuming the driver is married with kids

In California it might be a struggle

if the person is single then it is enough

If wife is working then it adds to it.

The figure is just the average Truck driver salary. which means they can make more as they become more experience.

I am sure many would

Your just filtering it thru you prospective and refuse to accept other prospectives or possibilities.

I’m only reporting the number.

You chose to accept it or not.
