Worst Pandemics

The Black Death killed tens of millions in the 1300's - maybe 50% of Europeans, 25% of the whole world died.

Blaming an African for spreading smallpox among the Aztecs is disputed, and may have racist roots. Who actually introduced smallpox into the New World doesn't really matter, anyway, because if any of the Spanish group had it, it would have, and did, spread like wildfire among people who had no immunity.

What is your evidence for claiming "racist roots"?

The African porter and others who spread diseases among the Native American generally should not be blamed. They didn't know what they were doing.

The mere fact that an African was claimed to be the source of smallpox hints at racism. Others in the group may well have also had the disease; it's very contagious. But yes, none of them knew what they were doing. They're not to blame, unlike people today who defy calls to shelter in place to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Pointing out that an African spread the disease is not racism just as noting Chinese people have spread the coronavirus is not racism.

The point I was making is that the source of the smallpox is disputed. It's not a proven fact that it was an African. And as I also pointed out, if one person had it, almost certainly others did also so no one can really know who gave it to the Aztecs. Just look at how fast the coronavirus spread, and smallpox is just as contagious.

Just like the "Spanish Flu" did not originate in Spain.

Americans are spreading it now, cheers.

Please acknowledge the silliness of this statement.

The evidence points to the African as the source.
