Worst "going solo" decisions in rock history?

John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

honorable mention: Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. (and Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley for continuing without them).

He was my first choice, too. But I just couldn't stomach it.

They haven't been the same without him, either, so I think that sort of neutralizes the fact that they fired him. It was lose/lose. Though the band came out ahead.

Which rock frontmen do you think screwed the pooch the most when they decided to shitcan the band and go solo? And I don't necessarily mean commercially.

:eusa_think:

Ozzy :D

isnt that kinda of an old band? deep purple....i mean that is a trip in the way back machine

Bones Deep Purple was not that far before the Butthole Surfers.....Burn last LP before Blackmore left was 74....Surfers were formed in 81.....

Rob Halford leaving Judas Priest....

the James Gang trying to go it without Joe Walsh...

the Dead without Jerry Garcia...

the Spencer Davis Group without Steve Winwood....

Peter Cetera.

Should've quit while he was ahead as the front man of one of the '70s best bands, instead of going around singing wimpy-assed pubescent little girl tunes.

like the one with Cher?....

It's technically not going solo. But Axl Rose being the only remaining original member of GnR was one of the worst downfalls in Rock.
