For the record, I never thought very highly of Elon Musk.

I worked for Solar City for a while, before Musk sold it to himself, and I watched the way Musk runs his business. Chaos, office politics, and constant changes.

Of course, he has this in common with Trump.

I am very impressed with his cars. But I never trusted his hustler type style of business to think of buying one of his cars.

My next car will certainly be electric. But it won't be a Tesla.

There are substantially cheaper EVs. More importantly, charging can be cheaper than gasoline purchases. Finally it makes us not dependent on a hydrocarbon market where the vast majority of oil comes from dictatorships. A US / Europe that is free of the need for hydrocarbons is a US/Europe free from the Mideast and Russia. The ME and Russia go back to being third world powers.
