Mother who tricked family with fake cancer scheme sentenced

nov 9 2017 An Alabama woman who tricked people, including her own child, into thinking she was dying of cancer will serve time behind bars.

Jennifer Flynn Cataldo, 37, was sentenced to 25 months in prison for fraudulently raising more than $260,000 over three years by telling friends, family and strangers that she had terminal cancer.

Detectives said Cataldo ran her scheme from 2014 to May 2017 and collected funds through Facebook, emails, text messages and two GoFundMe accounts, WHNT reports.

Because of what she lied about, in my opinion, two years is way too much of a slap on the wrist.
