(The last meeting, Chairman Xi's Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, were conspicuously befouled by the "ROC"'s cheating in women's figure skating - an embarrassing distraction from China's self-promotion.)

With the concerted, impactful actions by democratic nations punishing the Rooskie savage for his depravity in Ukraine, the KGB thug is increasingly dependent upon the Middle Kingdom, yet Xi's global designs require that he not blatantly show contempt for democratic values by propping up the repugnant Poot.

Jinping's ambition is ruthless, and as subtle as an enigmatic fortune cookie. Vlady's is ruthless, and as subtle as a ten-megaton borscht fart concealed in a matryoshka doll.

Mr. Putin has forced China into the awkward position of explaining how the invasion does not violate the principle of respect for national sovereignty that is, officially, a pillar of China’s foreign policy.
“They must feel like they’ve been played.” (John Culver, a retired CIA China Specialist.)
China must also view the punishment being inflicted upon Russia with Taiwan in mind. The paradigm will have been established and rehearsed.

One thing is for certain. You will not see Xi picking up on the aberrant view of Putin as being "savvy" or a "genius."

Putin and Xi really do make a cute couple but when is Xi going to make things right and finally marry Putin?

I see this war as nothing more than a cry for help and an attempt to seek more attention from Xi so that maybe he will pop the question finally.

Now from what I hear, genocide really is what turns on Xi, so Putin should maybe consider this.

Man, I'd love to see Putin so straight into the shitter.

Then we start dealing with China and how THEY can go fuck themselves.

So to speak.

Mr. Xi might see it as US aggression? So forget Ukraine, that little country is just a pawn in the big game.

The point that's not being suggested here is that this could become a war between America and Russia/China with lots of little pawns becoming involved on both sides.

What could we expect that Xi/China is thinking?

The recent global reaction to Russia gives me hope about what can be done with China. We sure can't do anything about them on our own.

China has no scruples and no shame

so being allies with russia is no problem for them

he could still be useful during a future invasion of Taiwan

Xi will have an easier time taking Taiwan than Poot has had with Ukraine.

Taiwan is roughly the size of Maryland, and China has 1.4B people.

Russia is China's gas station. If anything China will join Russia and have a full scale invasion of Taiwan.
No.

China and Russia are aligned only for convenience. They still have a little bit of beef between them that hasn't settled and China may be looking for a land grab of part of their empire they lost to Russia.

With Russia demonstrating how weak they are now (and poor) I would agree that China probably doesn't see them as much more than a gas station.

Are you sure? China could also take a hands off approach and be considering that China could go it alone against America in the future.

There is no reason for China to repeat Putin's disaster.

If anything, the alliance of democratic nations' resolute support of Ukraine's sovereignty is a sobering deterrent.

Is Russia so weak that they're only bluffing when they infer that they have the ability to turn the West into a smoking glass parking lot?

Have too heard military strategists saying that the superpowers only need about a dozen large nuclear weapons each, and the thousands of others are redundancy?

Xi understands that Russia is an enemy, so is now taking the opportunity to stab them in the back......evil communists are going to be communists.......they are allies of circumstances and now Xi sees a chance to weaken putin.....

"Just fill up my Dongfeng, Vladdy. I don't want to get bogged down in Odessa!"

Honestly, after witnessing their poor excuse for a military I have no idea what status their nukes are in. They could all be decrepit and falling apart for all I know. I wouldn't bank on that but it wouldn't surprise me either.

For far too long that reputation about how the Russian military is so tough. All of their wins really depended on throwing bodies at their enemies. WWII and beyond. Whether it be far left wing pseudo Communism or far right wing crony capitalistic oligarchs, their leaders have always skimmed from the top and ripped their citizens off. It just so happens now that it may very well have had an impact on their military capabilities.

Have too heard military strategists saying that the superpowers only need about a dozen large nuclear weapons each, and the thousands of others are redundancy?

Probably. It may be why we realized on our end it's quality not quantity.

No...it isn't a deterrent, China is going to try to dominate the world...they are just going about it in a smarter way than putin......looking at the long game.....they are infiltrating the west at every level......using spies and bribes to get what they want, avoiding open confrontation...for now.....Taiwan will be interesting...we should be flooding that country with anti-ship missles, Javelin missles and stinger missles.....as well as sending over 10s of thousands of rifles and pistols, training their people in urban warfare......

Are you sure? China could also take a hands off approach and be considering that China could go it alone against America in the future.
China does not want to “go it” with America at all

they want to walk into Taiwan unopposed
