"Donald Trump wasn’t the first winning candidate to call for moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, but unlike previous presidents, he just might keep his promise.

Both Bill Clinton and George W. Bush made similar pledges during their campaigns, only to backpedal once in the Oval Office -- sobered by the potential for diplomatic blowback across the Arab world.

But Trump has done what few of his predecessors have: emphasize the issue loudly and proudly afterwards. His campaign adviser on Israel, Jason Greenblatt, told Israel’s Army radio in a post-election interview that Trump was “going to do it,” and his campaign manager on Monday called the move “a very big priority for this president elect.”

"He made it very clear during the campaign, Hugh, and as president-elect I've heard him repeat it several times privately, if not publicly,” Kellyanne Conway, now a senior transition aide, told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt.

“We’d never been at this point before, where the guy’s already won and he conveyed it was a high priority for him,” said David Makovsky, director of the Project on the Middle East Peace Process at the Washington Institute of Near East policy.

“The fact that Conway repeated it now is different,” agreed Daniel Kurtzer, who served as ambassador to Israel under George W. Bush.

Trump signaled his intentions again on Thursday, when he announced conservative attorney David Friedman as his pick for ambassador to Israel.

Friedman, who has deep ties to the settlement movement, has previously said he opposes a ban on construction activity in East Jerusalem and that he believes Trump will uphold his promise to move the embassy.

“I intend to work tirelessly to strengthen the unbreakable bond between our two countries and advance the cause of peace within the region, and look forward to doing this from the U.S. embassy in Israel’s eternal capital, Jerusalem,” Friedman said in the release announcing Trump’s choice."

Will Trump move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem?

The US embassy should always been located in Jerusalem. The Israeli government is located in the western part of the city which is west of the so called green line and recognized as pre 1967 Israel.

Finally, Trump will bring some sanity to US policy.

Jerusalem was never destined to be either Jewish, Christian or Muslim. The UN partition resolution would have never been signed had Jerusalem not have been placed into the international zone.

That said, moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem and recognizing it as such is the best thing that could happen to the Palestinians. The Sunni states (Saudi, Egypt, Gulf States, Jordan) would be put in a difficult position and the recent rapprochement with Israel/U.S. would be curtailed.

You think so, he is also going to name Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and you think that would go over good with the Arab states?

We are talking about the western part of Jerusalem which is part of pre 1967 Israel, so there is no basis for anyone to object unless they object to the existence of Israel.

There is no reason to object unless they are objecting to the existence of Israel, and none of the Arab states any longer believe they can do anything about that. It will cause some noise but nothing else.

I hope Trump does it and tells the Arab world to Suck it Up.

We have an american center/consulate there already but Trump team scouted sites last week for a proper embassy. Now he has an embassador to serve there.

And it was the arab muslims that scotched that idea when they invaded and stole the land then annexed it as theirs. Why didnt the UN send in a heavily armed task force to evict the arab muslims and make Jerusalem the " CORPUS SEPARATUM " AS WAS INTENDED
